The Congress President, Mallikarjun Kharge, has publicly expressed his disapproval of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent video message addressed to students. He urged the Prime Minister to discuss the matter formally in Parliament rather than through social media. Kharge emphasised that dialogue in the legislative assembly is essential for proper accountability and clarity.

Kharge stated that assurances given by the Prime Minister should be made under the parliamentary framework so that the opposition can scrutinise them. He maintained that only a statement made within the House would be deemed credible and transparent. The Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha suggested that the Prime Minister’s choice to share a late-night message instead of engaging in parliamentary discourse raises questions about his intentions.

He remarked, “He should speak in Parliament; only then will we understand his authentic words.” This assertion highlights Kharge’s belief that Parliament is the appropriate platform for addressing such critical issues. He indicated that the timing of the communication was inappropriate and that more clarity would be achieved through formal discourse during the day.

Prime Minister’s Video on Exam-Related Protests

In the late-night video message shared on X, Prime Minister Modi addressed the ongoing protests related to alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG 2026 examination. He assured the public that the government would take “more strict” measures against instances of paper leaks. The protests led by the CJP have ignited significant unrest, both within and outside Parliament.

The Prime Minister mentioned that a draft Bill concerning Fast-Track Courts will be discussed by the Union Cabinet, which aims to impose stringent penalties on offenders involved in examination malpractices. Aside from announcing the swift establishment of Fast-Track Courts, Modi noted efforts to ensure that the integrity of the examination process is upheld to prevent further disruptions.

In his message, he acknowledged the emotional toll on students and their families caused by the leaks, asserting that the government has taken significant steps in response. He also indicated that several individuals connected to these irregularities have already faced legal consequences and are currently incarcerated.

Opposition’s Response and Ongoing Demands

Amid the controversy, the opposition has intensified calls for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. These demands are gaining momentum, especially in light of the NEET paper leak controversy. The issue has not only created political tension but has also manifested in various protests across the nation, highlighting the widespread concern over examination integrity.

The Monsoon Session of Parliament is witnessing sustained discussions on the matter, with the opposition pressing for a comprehensive review of the paper leak incidents. They argue that a thorough investigation and transparent dialogue are necessary for restoring public confidence in the examination system.

Prime Minister Modi concluded his message by highlighting that his administration had worked diligently to minimise disruptions to students’ education, ensuring that approximately 22 lakh students could sit for their exams in a timely manner. The announcement of results shortly after the examinations has reportedly brought joy to many families across the country, counterbalancing the frustrations resulting from the paper leaks.
