Kedarnath Temple Prohibits Videography and Mobile Phone Use

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Rudraprayag Superintendent of Police, Niharika Tomar, announced on April 21 that enhanced security protocols have been implemented at the Kedarnath Dham as the pilgrimage season commences. She stated that the gates of Kedarnath will officially open on April 22 at 8:00 AM, welcoming a large influx of devotees. In light of the expected attendance, the administration has prioritised establishing a secure and respectful atmosphere within the temple premises.

Restrictions on Videography and Photography

The temple administration has taken proactive steps to facilitate compliance with these rules by establishing a mobile counter and locker system for safe storage of electronic devices. This measure is intended to ensure that visitors can participate in the pilgrimage without compromising the temple’s respect and sanctity.

SP Tomar also cautioned devotees against the unauthorised use of drones, revealing that action has already been taken against two such devices being operated without permission. She reiterated the administration’s commitment to strict enforcement of these regulations to protect the sacred atmosphere of the Dham.

Observations During the Char Dham Yatra

As the Char Dham Yatra officially commenced on April 19, coinciding with Akshaya Tritiya, an unprecedented number of pilgrims has already gathered at the base camps. The administration has issued advisories urging devotees to prepare adequately for their journeys, particularly in terms of clothing, as current weather conditions remain near freezing due to recent snowfall.

Despite the frigid temperatures, a festive spirit surrounds the pilgrimage as the sun rises on April 22, heralding the end of a six-month winter hiatus. The air is expected to resonate with the sounds of conch shells and the fervent chants of “Kedar Baba Ki Jai,” signifying the reopening of this cherished site to devotees from across the nation.

The local authorities have reiterated their request for all visitors to collaborate in preserving the sanctity of the Kedarnath Temple. Compliance with established rules is essential for maintaining a respectful environment as thousands of pilgrims prepare to embark on their spiritual journey at this esteemed location.
