The ongoing debate surrounding the decision to paint Government Model Schools in Bihar in saffron has elicited a response from JD(U) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha. Jha emphasised that education should not be intertwined with specific colours, asserting that it is meant for all individuals, irrespective of their backgrounds. His statements were made during an interaction with ANI,where he defended the Centre’s approach to the educational sector.

Jha reiterated that the initiative for the Model Schools was introduced by Nitish Kumar, the Chief Minister of Bihar. He argued that the educational field should remain free from politicisation, advocating for an inclusive approach. According to him, linking education to colour distracts from its primary purpose of serving the entire community.

Response to NEET Paper Leak Allegations

Regarding allegations concerning a leak in the NEET exam paper, Jha stated that the government acted decisively without attempting to conceal the situation. He pointed out that the government cancelled the exam and took necessary actions against those responsible for the breach. Jha confirmed that a new examination was conducted with the collaboration of relevant agencies to ensure integrity.

Reflecting on the challenges faced by students due to the incident, Jha acknowledged the distress caused and assured that any deficiencies identified would be addressed effectively. His comments were made in light of the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament, where the Opposition has raised questions concerning the handling of the NEET issue by the government.

By reinforcing the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability, Jha responded to criticism that had surfaced following the alleged leak. His remarks were aimed at restoring confidence amongst the students and parents affected by the situation.

Comments on Ram Mandir and Educational Focus

In addition to the discussions on school colour schemes and exam integrity, Jha also addressed the Ram Mandir issue, linking it to the beliefs of millions of citizens. He remarked that the situation is sensitive and requires appropriate action, which the government is already taking. Jha highlighted that a committee had been established to expedite the processes related to the Ram Mandir.

Another JD(U) leader, Neeraj Kumar, echoed Jha’s sentiments, underscoring that the priority should be on achieving quality education rather than becoming embroiled in debates over the colour of educational institutions. He stressed that the party’s principles are rooted in the Preamble of the Constitution, which aims to provide equal educational opportunities to people from all communities.

Kumar also raised concerns regarding the acknowledgement of individuals who contributed land for school developments. He pointed out that recognising those who have supported educational initiatives should be done respectfully, as their historical contributions reflect the community’s values. Kumar expressed that it is crucial for the government to ensure that the legacy of such contributors is honoured appropriately in the context of any development projects.
