Around 4 am when the Volvo reached near the Crystal World Water Park, just 200 metres ahead of the Shantarshah police check post, flames were noticed in the engine compartment. Immediately the bus driver detected the technical issue, and in no time smoke and flames started rising from the engine section. Driver immediately alerted the passengers and the bus was vacated. One of the eyewitnesses shared that the fire immediately engulfed the entire bus and thick black smoke was seen. “I was passing by, seeing the fire, I stopped and along with me some other residents and helped passengers nearby.” He further shared, police were informed and immediately the fire brigade and police reached the spot and fire was controlled.

Firefighters battled the blaze, but the luxury Volvo was gutted in flame and all belongings and luggage burnt into ashes.

The Senior Superintendent of Police Navneet Singh Bhullar spoke to the media on this incident and shared that passengers were immediately shifted to a safe location and thereafter sent via another bus to their destination. “No injuries or casualties. Bus driver Arun Kumar, a resident of Dholpur in Rajasthan, informed authorities that he had noticed a technical snag moments before flames erupted from the engine side. Thanks to his quick response, all passengers were evacuated safely,” Bhullar said.
