Indian Railways Launches Three Summer Special Trains for Bihar Routes

The CSR Journal Magazine

Indian Railways has introduced three summer special trains aimed at accommodating the increased travel demand, particularly from Bihar. This move comes in response to the substantial crowds observed at various railway stations as schools remain closed and travel activity intensifies. The seasonal introduction of these trains aims to provide smoother journeys for passengers travelling to both northern and southern regions of India.

These services are part of the Railways’ overarching plan for summer 2026, which focuses on enhancing passenger capacity and connectivity along high-demand routes. The new trains are expected to serve a significant number of migrant workers, students, and families, all of whom are seeking travel options during one of the peak periods of the year.

Details of the Summer Special Trains

One notable service is the New Delhi – Supaul Special Train, which commenced operations on April 17. This daily train connects the national capital to north Bihar, providing a vital link for passengers heading to the region. However, it is important to note that this service will have a brief hiatus from May 21 to May 25.

Additionally, the Anand Vihar – Jogbani Special Train offers another essential route, running from April 18 until July 11, with the exception of May 23. This particular service enhances connectivity between Delhi and Bihar, offering further travel possibilities during the summer months.

The Saharsa – Yeshwantpur Special Train is set to operate on select dates: April 16, 23, and 30. This train connects Bihar to Bengaluru, a major hub in southern India, thereby linking passengers from the northern state to critical destinations in the south.

Significance of the New Services

Passengers can benefit from the increased capacity and more direct routes, thus making long-distance travel more manageable. The initiative reflects an effort to cater to the needs of a varied demographic, including migrant workers returning home, students returning during academic breaks, and families planning summer vacations.

In this manner, the introduction of these summer special trains substantially improves the train connectivity from Bihar, ensuring that travelling during peak seasons becomes a more feasible choice for travellers. The steps taken by Indian Railways demonstrate a commitment to addressing the evolving needs of the passenger base during one of the busiest travel periods in the year.
