Gurugram Police Uncover Alleged Tyre Theft Ring, Seize 53 Tyres

The CSR Journal Magazine

The residents of various housing societies in Gurugram were taken aback when they discovered vehicles parked outside homes and along streets stripped of their wheels and resting on jacks and bricks. These incidents, which transpired overnight, indicated a series of clandestine thefts that have now led to the dismantling of an alleged tyre theft operation. The Police in Gurugram reported that this racket functioned with surprising efficiency, targeting vehicles parked in both residential areas and along roadside stretches.

In a significant development, officials from the Gurugram Crime Branch unit situated in Manesar apprehended two suspects connected to the thefts. The arrested individuals have been named as Sagar, aged 28, from Shakti Park in Gurugram, and Naveen, aged 35, from Ujina village in the Nuh district. A substantial recovery was made, including items such as 53 stolen tyres, eight rims, eight alloy wheels, a jack, and cash.

Investigation Led to the Uncovering of a Larger Network

The investigation into this organised crime began on May 9, 2026, following a report made by the owner of a vehicle parked near MRG Balcony Society in Sector 93, who found all four tyres and rims missing. The complaint initiated a formal investigation at Sector 10 Police Station, subsequently leading the Crime Branch to uncover what appears to be an extensive network involved in targeting vehicles across Gurugram.

According to police investigations, the suspects executed their operations during the night, employing stolen cars to scout potential targets. Once they identified a vehicle, they would quickly enter the scene, lifting it with a jack, removing the tyres and rims, and making a swift exit before residents woke up. It is believed that the gang could dismantle a vehicle in just a few minutes, leaving behind no trace of their activities until morning.

This rapid execution of their plan allowed the group to conduct multiple thefts without drawing attention to their activities. The police began to suspect that the ordinary incidents of theft were merely indicators of a larger, coordinated criminal effort.
