A fourteen-year-old girl reportedly delivered a baby inside a toilet at the Sadar Hospital in Giridih, Jharkhand, on Friday. This unusual scenario sparked significant concern among hospital staff and visitors when they found the newborn trapped in the toilet pan. Eyewitness accounts indicate that the young girl emerged from the toilet visibly distressed.

Witnesses who noticed the distressing situation observed blood present both inside and outside the toilet. They alerted the hospital staff, believing that something was amiss. Officials stated that the girl allegedly attempted to leave the hospital premises but fell short, collapsing just a short distance away due to dizziness.

Once notified, hospital staff promptly informed the authorities, and police from the Town police station arrived at the location to assess the situation. Upon inspecting the toilet, they discovered the newborn in a precarious position within the pan, necessitating immediate action to rescue the infant.

Rescue Operation

Following the discovery, the hospital personnel and police worked collaboratively to safely extricate the newborn from the toilet. Given the urgency of the situation, an ambulance was summoned to transport both the minor mother and her baby to the dedicated Maternal and Child Hospital located at Chaitadih for further medical care.

Hospital Deputy Superintendent Dr Pradeep Baitha confirmed that both individuals were admitted and placed under medical observation. He reported that the current condition of both the mother and the newborn was stable. This incident, however, raised various questions and concerns about the circumstances surrounding the girl’s situation.

The quick response from the hospital staff and police appeared critical in ensuring the well-being of both the mother and the infant. As the details unfolded, the hospital team had to act swiftly to provide necessary medical attention in a challenging situation.

In the aftermath of the incident, Ratan Kumar Singh, in charge of the Town police station, announced that an investigation was ongoing. Officers indicated that they would thoroughly examine all relevant aspects of the case, particularly considering the girl’s young age and the unusual circumstances of the delivery.

The police are reportedly looking into various angles to fully understand how the situation arose and whether any assistance could have been provided to the minor prior to the incident.
