Ferrari Launches Its First Electric Vehicle, The Luce

Ferrari has officially introduced its inaugural electric vehicle, the Ferrari Luce. This new release marks a significant departure from the company’s traditional two- or four-seat configurations, as it now features a five-seat layout. The unveiling of the Ferrari Luce took place during the World Premiere event on May 25, 2026, in Italy. The event showcased the vehicle as a harmony of Ferrari’s driving heritage and innovative technology, aimed at attracting a new generation of electric vehicle enthusiasts.

Innovative Cockpit Features

One of the most notable features of the Ferrari Luce is its unique cockpit design. The vehicle boasts a layered OLED dashboard, which Samsung has confirmed provides four distinct displays, including a 12.9-inch driver binnacle, a 12-inch lower OLED layer, a 10.1-inch centre control display, and a 6.3-inch rear passenger screen. This multi-display setup is tailored to enhance the driver’s experience.

The cockpit’s layered instrument cluster distinguishes it from conventional flat dashboards. The design integrates two OLED panels positioned one above the other, allowing mechanical hands to transition between the layers. This combination aims to recreate an analogue feel while leveraging the adaptability of digital technology.

Samsung has employed its proprietary HIAA (Hole in Active Area) technology in this system. Unlike typical smartphone displays, which feature minimal cutouts, the Ferrari Luce’s display includes openings nearly 100mm in size, significantly enhancing visibility and interaction. The lower display serves as a background for graphics and gauge information, while the upper layer is designed to present real-time vehicle data, including torque indicators and alerts.

Ferrari’s Chief Research & Development Officer, Ernesto Lasalandra, articulated the ambition behind the Luce’s cockpit design. He stated that it strives to deliver “an unprecedented experience” that seamlessly integrates Ferrari’s rich heritage with forward-thinking technology. This reflects the manufacturer’s intent to forge a new path in the EV market while remaining committed to its automotive legacy.
