Explosive Allegations Hit Abhishek Banerjee’s ‘Sebaashray’ Healthcare Initiative; BJP Leader Files Police Complaint

The CSR Journal Magazine

A major controversy has erupted over “Sebaashray,” a flagship healthcare initiative championed by Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee in his Diamond Harbour constituency. BJP leader Abhijit Das, also known as Bobby, has lodged a formal police complaint at the Bishnupur Police Station in South 24 Parganas, raising serious allegations regarding the operations and funding of the medical camps.

The initiative, which was widely publicized across Diamond Harbour, regularly drew large crowds from remote areas seeking free medical treatment. MP Abhishek Banerjee frequently visited these camps to interact with patients visits that were actively promoted across TMC’s social media platforms. However, the initiative is now facing intense scrutiny over its medical and administrative practices.

The Nature of the Allegations

According to the written complaint, the organizers of the healthcare initiative allegedly violated multiple statutory medical guidelines. The key allegations detailed in the complaint include:

Medical Malpractice: Alleged use of unauthorized medical practices, including utilizing homeopathy and ayurvedic practitioners, as well as medical students, to prescribe and administer allopathic treatments.

Administrative Lapses: Forgery of official documents, severe mismanagement of hazardous bio-medical waste, and the unauthorized diversion of government resources.

Equipment Violations: Illegal deployment of regulated diagnostic equipment, such as portable X-ray and ultrasound machines, without adhering to mandatory statutory protocols.

The complainant further alleged that medical equipment was forcibly sourced from state-run government hospitals to operate these private camps. Questions have also been raised regarding the source of the multi-crore budget utilized to organize these extensive medical camps.

Legal and Inside Reactions

The complaint has been filed against a total of ten individuals, including Diamond Harbour MP Abhishek Banerjee. Supporting evidence, including promotional flyers, internal documents, photographs, and video footage, has reportedly been submitted to the authorities. Bishnupur Police confirmed that the written complaint was formally received on July 1, 2026, and an investigation into the matter is currently underway.

Compounding the allegations, a medical practitioner previously associated with the initiative reportedly supported the claims on the condition of anonymity, stating that a thorough investigation would uncover deeper irregularities. The practitioner alleged that only about 5 to 10 percent of the attending staff were qualified MBBS doctors, while the remaining 90 percent consisted of alternative medicine practitioners handling allopathic treatments.

TMC leadership has yet to issue an official statement regarding the police complaint.
