The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced the reopening of entry gates at Mandi House and Central Secretariat metro stations for passengers. This update was shared on July 22, 2026, through a post on X, confirming the full resumption of passenger services at these vital stations in the metro network.

DMRC stated, “Entry gates for Mandi House and Central Secretariat metro stations are now open,” indicating the restoration of normal operations in these areas. The reopening comes as a significant development for commuters who rely on the metro for their daily travels.

Additional Reopenings on the Blue Line

In a further update, the DMRC also confirmed that entry and exit gates at the Jhandewalan metro station on the Blue Line have been reopened. The announcement specified, “Entry and Exit gates for Jhandewalan metro station is now open,” thus allowing more flexibility for commuters across the network.

Prior to these reopenings, DMRC had temporarily closed a total of 16 metro stations to implement security measures largely connected to ongoing government sessions. The affected stations included key transit points like Lok Kalyan Marg, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, and several others in and around central Delhi.

Despite the temporary closure, the interchange facility remained accessible at notable stations such as Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, and Central Secretariat, allowing passengers to switch lines without significant disruption.

Security Measures During Parliament Session

The closures aligned with the Parliament’s Monsoon Session, as the closed stations were all situated in close proximity to critical locations like Jantar Mantar and the Parliament complex. Security protocols were heightened to ensure public safety amid increased political activities.

On the morning of July 16, the DMRC had first announced the closure of five stations: Janpath, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, and Seva Teerth. These restrictions were instituted “due to security reasons,” reflecting the heightened vigilance in the area due to the anticipated protest from the CJP, known as the “Chalo Sansad” march.

In preparation for both the protest and the parliamentary proceedings, authorities deployed personnel from the Rapid Action Force in the vicinity. Their presence aimed to maintain order and facilitate a calm atmosphere during potentially disruptive events.

The reopening of Mandi House, Central Secretariat, and Jhandewalan stations is expected to significantly improve commuter access. With these stations now operational, daily travellers are likely to benefit from reduced congestion and more accessible public transport options.
