Delhi Police Constable Arrested for Allegedly Assaulting Ex-Girlfriend

The CSR Journal Magazine

A Delhi Police constable has been taken into custody following allegations of assault against his former girlfriend and threats made towards her family. The incident reportedly took place in Gurugram on May 31, 2026. The accused, identified as Ronit Yadav, 32, is serving with the Delhi Police and was stationed at a Metro station at the time of the incident.

The woman involved, a 25-year-old BBA student, lodged a formal complaint with the police, leading to Yadav’s arrest. According to her statement, the relationship had ended due to his problematic behaviour, prompting her to cease all communication with him. Reports indicate that Yadav arrived at the Jalvayu Vihar residential society in Gurugram between 5 am and 6 am, allegedly under the influence of alcohol.

Upon being denied entry by the woman’s mother, Yadav reportedly attempted to forcibly gain access to the residence. The police have stated that the complainant accused him of verbally abusing family members and issuing threats of violence against her mother and younger sister, who is 15 years old.

Assault and Public Disturbance

She also noted that this was not the first instance of violence; she claimed he had previously assaulted her in a similar fashion in September 2025. Although she initially sought police assistance at that time, she withdrew the complaint later, citing that Yadav had threatened to release a private video of her.

CCTV footage from the residential society reportedly captured segments of the incident, providing corroborative evidence for the investigation. After the alleged assault, Yadav reportedly attempted to escape the scene in his SUV, colliding with the iron gate of the society as security personnel attempted to restrict his exit.

Legal Proceedings and Police Action

In response to the complaint filed by the victim, an FIR was registered under pertinent sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Following the investigation, Yadav was arrested and subsequently presented before a local court, which ordered him into judicial custody. His bail application was denied by the court.

Police officials confirmed that Yadav is now in custody while further inquiries are conducted. The incident has raised concerns about domestic violence and the challenges faced by individuals seeking protection from abusive relationships.

As the investigation continues, authorities are expected to gather more evidence, including witness statements and surveillance footage, to support the case against Yadav. The police have urged anyone with additional information regarding the incident to come forward.
