The CSR Journal Magazine

The Falcon 10X from Dassault Aviation successfully undertook its first flight, marking a significant step in the development of this new aircraft. The flight test, which began at 11:10 a.m. on June 20, was executed by Test Pilot Sebastien Dupont de Dinechin and co-pilot Fabrice Dougnac. The aircraft took off from runway 23 at Bordeaux-Merignac and spent two hours and thirty minutes in the air.

During the flight, the pilots assessed various handling qualities and systems at an altitude of 15,000 feet before retracting the landing gear and all movable surfaces. The aircraft continued to climb, reaching an altitude of 40,000 feet where it accelerated to Mach 0.82. After a successful evaluation, the Falcon 10X returned to Bordeaux-Merignac, concluding its flight with a smooth landing at 1:40 p.m.

Statements from Company Officials

In an official statement, Dassault Chairman and CEO Eric Trappier commented on the significance of this inaugural flight. He highlighted the efforts of engineers, production teams, and flight personnel, noting that this achievement reflects their dedication and expertise. Trappier remarked, “This inaugural flight is another milestone for Dassault,” acknowledging the contributions of a global network of partners involved in the project.

Test Pilot Dupont de Dinechin expressed satisfaction with the flight’s outcomes, stating, “It paid off in a flight that went as planned and was a delight to fly.” The successful maiden flight opens a new chapter in the testing phase for the Falcon 10X, a step that the company has been eagerly anticipating.

Furthermore, the statement indicated that a second test aircraft is nearing completion and will soon take to the skies, while a third aircraft is in the process of being outfitted with a full interior. The latter will primarily focus on systems and cabin functional testing for reliability.
