Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR): Tata Chemicals Commemorates Science Day, Conducts Activities for Students in Mithapur

Tata Chemicals’ Society for Rural Development arranged a slew of activities for students from primary school of Okhamandal block at Shivajpur beach of Mithapur to commemorate National Science Day.
In line with the theme for Science Day, ‘Global Science for Global Wellbeing’ Tata Chemicals CSR arm TCSRD organized various activities such as the essay writing, quiz and drawing competitions for students in classes 6th to 8thfrom 14 government schools across the region. A total of 108 students participated in these three competitions.
Talking about the Science Day event, Mr. Satyajit Roy, Head-Operations-MUW, CC & Marine & Power Plant, CC & Marine Chemicals said, “As an Innovative, Science-Led, Sustainable Chemistry Company, it has been our constant endeavour to promote the significance of science in our day to day lives and its’ greater contribution towards global well-being. The engaging activities for Science Day organised by TCSRD team received an overwhelming response from 14 schools of Okhamandal block. This inspires us to do more for the betterment of our planet and people.”
Sumaniya Sangita from class 6th; Khatumba Primary School, Rahul Odich from class 7th; NanaBhavda Primary School and Vagadiya Selina from class 8th; Goriyali Primary School were declared the winner for essay writing competition. Rathod Tushar Bharatbhai from class 6th, Poshitra Primary School, Devra Mori Somabhai from class 7th, Mulvasar Primary School and Vagadiya Afzal from class 8th; Goriyali Primary School won the quiz competition. Suthar Avani from class 6th, Nana Bhavda Primary School; Bathvar Hiral Valabhai from class 7th, KGVB- Arambhada; Manek Santok from class 8th, Goriyali Primary School bagged first prize in drawing competition.
Special prizes were given to specially-abled child from Khatumba Primary School and Mulvasar Primary School. They participated in drawing competition. These students were given the hands on activity science kit.
All the students who participated in the event were given school bags and stationery. For the art competition, drawing kits were provided to all the participants. The quiz competition was organised virtually through TCSRD’s Wow Bus. Wow Bus is Tata Chemicals Society for Rural Development’s in-house initiative to reach out to students to give them hands-on training on science related projects.
A total of 13 hours invested 78 hours to make this event a success.
