Rajasthan Cabinet Minister Avinash Gehlot stated that the BJP government has successfully conducted nearly 350 examinations in the state without any reports of paper leaks. This statement comes in light of criticisms from the Congress party regarding the recent NEET-UG paper leak incident. Gehlot asserted that the Congress is exploiting this issue for political gain and labelled their demands for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan as “unreasonable.”

Gehlot pointed out that when Congress leader Govind Singh Dotasra held the position of Education Minister, he had claimed that the responsibility of conducting exams lay with the respective agencies rather than the Minister. He condemned the current demand for Pradhan’s resignation as mere opportunism, suggesting that the public can discern these political tactics.

Accusations Against Previous Governments

The minister alleged that significant instances of exam paper leaks occurred during previous Congress administrations both at the national level and within Rajasthan. Gehlot mentioned that from 2004 to 2014, numerous exam papers were leaked while the Congress was in power at the Centre. He also cited a troubling trend during the last Congress government in Rajasthan from 2018 to 2023, during which he claimed 19 paper leaks occurred without any resultant accountability.

Highlighting this history, Gehlot stated the actions of the Congress now are misleading, and nothing has changed in terms of their ineffectiveness in addressing similar issues. He suggested that their attempts to frame the recent paper leak as a political agenda indicate a lack of genuine concern for the students involved.

In addition, Gehlot reaffirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made commitments to safeguard the future of students and remains willing to engage in discussions regarding the examination controversy. He accused the opposition parties of misguiding students and stoking unrest.

Development Initiatives in Rajasthan

While addressing recent developmental projects, Gehlot praised the Pachpadra refinery, referring to it as a significant contributor to the state’s economy. He noted that this refinery, one of the largest in India, is expected to generate approximately Rs 9,000 crore annually, boosting Rajasthan’s growth and development prospects.

The Pachpadra refinery is a joint venture between Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and the Rajasthan government, with an investment exceeding Rs 79,450 crore. Prime Minister Modi inaugurated this integrated refinery-cum-petrochemical complex earlier this month, which has an annual refining capacity of 9 million metric tonnes and a petrochemical production capability of 2.4 million metric tonnes.

During the same visit, the Prime Minister launched significant railway, road, and renewable energy projects, and provided appointment letters to approximately 54,000 newly recruited individuals in Rajasthan. These initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to infrastructure development and job creation in the state.
