‘Blue Drum’ Horror Returns? Maharashtra Woman and Husband Allegedly Kill Lover, Pack in Drum and Dump in Drain

The CSR Journal Magazine

Authorities in Maharashtra reported the discovery of a decomposed body believed to belong to Arbaz Khan, a 24-year-old man who went missing on April 3, 2026. His remains were found stuffed inside a green drum, dumped in a drain located in Vasai. This grim revelation was made public by police officials on Friday, who stated that the incident is reminiscent of a notorious case from March 2025 involving a murder in Meerut where the body of the victim was also disposed of in a similar manner.

The victim had left his home in Mumbra to collect outstanding payments but failed to return. Following his disappearance, Arbaz’s family filed a missing persons report with the police, prompting an investigation into his whereabouts.

Investigation Uncovers Disturbing Details

During the investigation, Mumbra Police utilised technical surveillance and mobile location tracking, leading them to determine that Arbaz had been with his alleged girlfriend, Mehjabeen Sheikh, in Vasai at the time of his disappearance. This prompted police to question Mehjabeen and her brother, Tariq Sheikh, both of whom reportedly confessed to their involvement in the incident following initial interrogation.

Further investigations revealed that Mehjabeen’s husband, Hasan, and Tariq’s friend, Muazzam Pathan, were also implicated in the alleged crime. According to police reports, the motive for the murder was related to a ransom demand, which Arbaz purportedly refused to meet.

Police stated that after killing Arbaz, the suspects attempted to conceal evidence by disposing of his body in a drum. The recovered remains have since sparked concern and fear among local residents.

Arrests Made as Search Continues for Additional Suspects

Following the investigation, police arrested Mehjabeen Sheikh and Tariq Sheikh. However, they are actively searching for two additional suspects, Hasan and Muazzam Pathan, who remain at large. Deputy Commissioner of Police Priya Dhamale confirmed the arrests and indicated that the investigation is ongoing, with further developments expected as authorities seek to apprehend the fugitives.

The case has drawn significant public interest due to its disturbing similarities with the Meerut ‘blue drum’ murder case, where the victim’s body was dismembered and sealed in a drum filled with wet cement. These similarities have reignited discussions around safety and crime in local communities.

The incident has raised alarming questions regarding the motives behind violent crimes in the region and the steps law enforcement is taking to address them. With ongoing investigations, police aim to ensure justice for Arbaz Khan and mitigate fear in the local population.
