A young boy from Bikaner Rajasthan went to Russia on student visa was lured into military services in Russia and sent to Russia-Ukraine war zone died recently and his body has been sent to his family yesterday. The deceased was Ajay Godara, who hailed from Arjansar village in Lunkaransar tehsil in Bikaner, Rajasthan. As per his family, Ajay had gone to Russia on November 28, 2024, on a student visa. But, when he reached there, he was offered a huge sum of money and lured into Russian military-related work, and then after he was sent to the Russia-Ukraine war zone where he breathed last.

Family shared that their son was offered kitchen work in Russia, however, he was later misguided and taken into military services. As per their discussion with Ajay, he was offered a training of just three months, but to his surprise, within three days he was sent to the battlefield. The family shared the two videos sent by Ajay from Russia approximately four months earlier. In the video, Ajay expressed fear of death and asked for help. In the video, he is heard saying that he has been misguided, he was promised some other work, but then he is put in this situation which is both dangerous and can cost him his life. In one video, Ajay clearly said, “What they told us before coming here is very different from what is actually happening here.” He even said that this is a life-threatening situation and he is not safe.

How did the family get information about Ajay’s death?
Last week, the family received an email about Ajay’s death and then the body was sent by the Russian government to New Delhi and now the mortal remains are being taken to Bikaner for last rites. According to the family, last month they had appealed to Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal and Cabinet Minister Sumit Godara to help ensure that their son is safe and make arrangements for his return. Ajay’s father Mahavir Godara said, “We never thought that our son would end up in a war zone, he had gone to Russia to start a career.” Currently, villagers and family members have demanded an inquiry and thorough investigation on how a person on a student visa can get into military operations. During a conversation with the media, the family said that investigation is necessary so that in future no other person like their son has such a tragic ending. “This is a national concern, how can someone be misled and put into military services and enter a conflict zone,” said one of the villagers.
