Baramulla Police have taken Haseena Begum into custody under the Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act (PSA) due to her alleged involvement in several unlawful activities. The detention took place on May 30, following a directive from the District Magistrate of Baramulla. The decision came after investigations indicated Begum’s role in multiple criminal cases across various districts.
Preventive Action to Maintain Public Order
According to police statements, the action against Haseena Begum is part of a broader effort to maintain peace and security in the region. A police spokesperson emphasised that strict legal measures would be enforced against anyone posing a threat to public order. The police remain vigilant and committed to curbing activities that could disrupt the stability of the area.
Begum has reportedly been associated with individuals involved in anti-national agendas, which has raised concerns among local authorities. Her detention is intended to prevent any further involvement in activities that could lead to public unrest.
This is not an isolated incident, as the Jammu and Kashmir Police have been actively addressing issues related to unlawful activities. Recently, in an effort to dismantle the terror ecosystem, law enforcement in Sopore has taken significant steps to attach properties linked to persons involved in terrorist activities.
Major Property Attachment in Terrorism Crackdown
Last month, the Jammu and Kashmir Police reported the attachment of a property valued at approximately Rs 20 lakhs, linked to an accused currently operating as a terror handler in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). This property consists of land based in Kehnusa, Bandipora district, which was identified during ongoing investigations.
The accused, identified as Majid Ahmad Sofi, who also goes by the name Bisati, is a resident of New Colony, Sopore. Police have asserted that Sofi is affiliated with the banned terrorist organisation Hizbul Mujahideen and has been instrumental in orchestrating attacks within the Kashmir Valley. The attachment of his property was carried out following the proper legal protocols, emphasising the seriousness of the ongoing investigation against terror-linked entities.
Authorities have indicated that the action taken against Sofi is part of a larger strategy aimed at weakening the infrastructure supporting terrorist activities. By seizing assets, police aim to disrupt the financing of terrorism and hinder the operational capabilities of those involved.
Continued Vigilance in Jammu and Kashmir
The recent detentions and actions highlight the focused efforts of law enforcement in Jammu and Kashmir to secure the region from potential threats. As tensions remain high, local authorities are determined to ensure the safety and security of residents by tackling anti-national elements through preventive measures and legal action.
Baramulla Police, along with other law enforcement agencies, are set to continue their crackdown on unlawful activities. The government’s approach combines both preventive and reactive strategies to address the challenges posed by extremist elements in the region.
Community support is also seen as a critical component in these efforts. Local residents are being encouraged to cooperate with authorities by reporting any suspicious activities, thereby contributing to the overall safety and wellbeing of the area.
