Apple Introduces New Siri AI, Suggesting Design Changes for iPhone 18 Pro

The CSR Journal Magazine

Apple has unveiled a newly designed Siri AI, aiming to enhance the functionality of its virtual assistant. This update promises a more conversational tone and better utility across various devices. The new feature was highlighted during Apple’s WWDC 2026 keynote and is currently accessible to users who are part of the iOS 27 beta programme.

While the focus has largely been on Siri AI’s improved intelligence and its seamless integration within applications, recent reports speculate that the new interface may also foreshadow significant design alterations for the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro, scheduled for release later this year.

Speculations on iPhone 18 Pro Design

Rumours regarding the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max suggest that Apple might not implement any dramatic design changes this year. Current speculation indicates that the new Pro models will maintain a similar appearance to the iPhone 17 Pro series, including the existing camera plateau and aluminium unibody.

However, reports indicate a potential modification of the Dynamic Island, which may be reduced in size by approximately 35 per cent. While this change may seem minor, the introduction of the updated Siri AI interface has resparked discussions about these potential design advancements.

Evidence supporting this theory lies in the shape of the Siri interface across different Apple devices. On current iPhones operating with the iOS 27 beta, Siri is displayed in an elongated oval format, closely mirroring the width of the existing Dynamic Island. In contrast, devices such as the iPad and Mac present Siri as a circular orb.

Future of the Dynamic Island and Siri Interface

The differing appearances of Siri across devices have led analysts to theorise that the new interface was specifically designed to accommodate the hardware attributes of current iPhones. If Apple decides to reduce the size of the Dynamic Island in future models, it could transition to the circular Siri orb format already in use on the iPad and Mac, offering a uniform experience across its range of products.

This approach suggests that Apple has already considered potential future hardware capabilities while modifying the Siri interface for current iPhones. Although no official statements have been made by Apple, industry observers are viewing these developments as a potential indication that the speculations about a smaller Dynamic Island may hold validity.

Over the past year, the possibilities surrounding the Dynamic Island have been subject to various interpretations. Initial leaks pointed towards Apple’s intention to position Face ID components beneath the display, leaving only a compact camera cutout visible on the device’s front. Subsequent reports have alluded to a smaller Dynamic Island made possible by an enhanced Face ID system, with certain elements concealed beneath the screen.

Community discourse on platforms such as Reddit has highlighted differing perceptions regarding a condensed Dynamic Island. Some users argue that, even with a reduced size, it would still exceed the dimensions of punch-hole cameras commonly seen in many Android smartphones. Others contend that a more significant upgrade will only be realised when Apple conceals all front-facing components entirely beneath the display surface.
