Apple Set to Redesign iPhone 20 with All-Glass No Notch Look

The CSR Journal Magazine

Apple appears to be preparing for a major redesign of its flagship smartphone, the iPhone, set to launch in 2027 for the company’s 20th anniversary. Sources have indicated that the iPhone 20 could feature a markedly different appearance compared to existing models, with early leaks hinting at a major focus on the device’s display.

The most notable alteration might be the adoption of an almost entirely glass body that extends the screen across all four edges of the device. Reports suggest a move away from the traditional Dynamic Island and other visible cutouts, as Apple may integrate the selfie camera and Face ID components beneath the display. This advancement would result in a design that closely resembles a seamless sheet of glass.

Rumours indicate a potential screen size of around seven inches. A source known as Digital Chat Station claims that Apple is evaluating a display panel measuring approximately 6.96 inches, which could be branded as a 7-inch screen. This would represent an increase over the 6.9-inch display of the iPhone 17 Pro Max, maintaining a similar size for the handset while potentially offering more screen real estate.

Display Innovations and Functionality

In addition, the iPhone 20 could adopt a quad-curved panel design that features gentle curves along its edges, enhancing the illusion of a continuous surface between the screen and the frame. It is speculated that there may be two anniversary models with display sizes around 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches, with the larger version effectively being considered a 7-inch device due to slimmer bezels.

The frontend design is expected to undergo significant transformation as Apple is reportedly considering concealing Face ID components and the selfie camera directly under the display. A successful implementation could lead to a completely uninterrupted screen experience. However, as this technology has been anticipated for multiple generations, expectations should be measured, particularly as some insiders express doubts about its readiness by 2027.

The anniversary model is also rumoured to restore a glass rear panel while featuring curved glass around the edges. This could create an aesthetic effect whereby the entire handset appears to be formed from one continuous piece of glass, aligning with a longstanding design ambition for the company.

Technological Enhancements and Features

In addition to the aesthetic changes, speculations surrounding the technical specifications of the iPhone 20 have emerged. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has indicated that Apple may utilise a new 2nm A21 chip, which could enhance both performance and energy efficiency. Furthermore, there are rumblings of a significant battery capacity of approximately 6,000mAh, designed to accommodate the anticipated display and processing demands.

Another notable modification could involve the introduction of solid-state buttons featuring haptic feedback. This means that traditional moving buttons might be replaced by controls that respond to pressure with vibrations, enabling a sleek, buttonless appearance. This change would further complement the iPhone’s all-glass exterior.

Despite these enticing prospects, all information remains speculative, arising from leaks that should be approached with caution. The official release date is still a year away, and final specifications and designs remain unconfirmed.
