The CSR Journal Magazine

Actor Akshay Kumar has voiced his concern for co-star Rajesh Sharma after Sharma suffered an insect bite while on a film set. Kumar shared a heartfelt post on X, where he expressed his hopes for a swift recovery for Sharma. The incident occurred during the shooting of a film in Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad, where Sharma is reportedly receiving medical treatment at a Kolkata hospital.

Rajesh Sharma, 45, is currently under observation due to complications from the bite, which is suspected to be from either a bug or a venomous spider. An official statement released by fellow actor Sudipa Chatterjee revealed that Sharma’s condition remains precarious and he is not yet out of danger.

Details of the Health Emergency

According to the statement from Chatterjee, the unfortunate incident happened after the shooting was completed for the day. While conversing with local technicians in an area densely populated with vegetation, Sharma felt an insect bite. Initially, he did not consider it serious and did not seek immediate medical help. However, approximately six hours later, he started experiencing severe pain in his right leg, alongside other symptoms of illness.

Despite the discomfort, Sharma made his way to the airport and boarded a flight to Kolkata. During the journey, his condition deteriorated; he developed a high fever and experienced increased restlessness. Upon arrival in Kolkata the following day, Sharma was admitted to Manipal Hospital located in Dhakuria.

The medical assessment revealed that he suffered from a high fever and breathlessness, coupled with a rapidly spreading infection in his right leg. The reports indicated that the infection had progressed from his toes to his knee, resulting in the formation of large blisters in the affected area. Dr Avijit Bhattacharya, who is overseeing Sharma’s care, stated that it is still too early to make a definitive evaluation of his condition.

Community Support Amid Health Challenges

The statement from Chatterjee also highlighted that Sharma remains under close medical supervision and is facing potential complications. Among these risks is the possibility of a blood clot, which could be life-threatening if it travels to the lungs. Chatterjee has assured that further updates regarding Sharma’s condition will be provided, dependent on the assessments from the hospital’s medical team.

Expressing gratitude, Chatterjee acknowledged the ongoing support from the media, the Bengal Motion Pictures Artists’ Forum, as well as Sharma’s friends and well-wishers. She particularly mentioned Shri Prosenjit Chatterjee, deeming him a steadfast source of guidance during this challenging time for the family and his circle of acquaintances.

Rajesh Sharma is celebrated for his work in various notable films, including Khosla Ka Ghosla, Ishqiya, No One Killed Jessica, and Tanu Weds Manu Returns, among others. His extensive body of work has earned him recognition amongst audiences, making the current health situation particularly distressing for fans and colleagues alike.
