A shocking case of family dispute and murder has emerged on Friday. A former Sarpanch, his mother, second wife, and niece brutally murdered before being burnt inside a vehicle. The victim was identified as Ram Singh Choudhary, former village head of Shrirampura village in Ajmer district, Rajasthan. As per the police inquiry, Ram Singh, his mother, second wife and niece were killed by Ram Singh’s first wife, their 2 children due to years of family dispute and abuse.

While the incident initially appeared to be a tragic vehicle fire, after investigation it was revealed otherwise. On Friday morning, a Mahindra Scorpio was found burning on a highway, hardly 500 metres from the house of the victims. Initially it seemed like an accident, but after investigating the crime scene, police found it to be a planned murder. Bodies of three victims were found charred inside the vehicle, while the body of Suryagyan Devi (second wife of Ram Singh Choudhary) was discovered in a field with a throat slit. This raised doubt and led to the murder plot.

What was the family dispute?

The former sarpanch Ram Singh and his first wife Sunita were married in 2005, and the duo have two children. In 2019, Ram Singh married Suryagyan, without his first wife’s consent. However, Ram Singh and his two wives were living together in one house. There was regular tension, conflict and disturbance at home. Suryagyan, the second wife of Ram Singh was a sitting district council member and a law student. The reality behind the murder came to the forefront during questioning, shared Ajmer Superintendent of Police Harsh Vardhan Agarwala.

Initially Sunita and her children denied of murder and Sunita said Ram had taken her mother to hospital, but when the forensic report did not match with the statement by Sunita, further questioning was done. This time, the minor son of Sunita confessed the killing and disclosed that for years her mother has been subjected to abuse.

Minor Son Allegedly Planned Murders After Years of Domestic Abuse

The minor boy shared that his father often assaulted him, his mother and sister in inebriated state. And his mother was treated like a servant and did all the household chores, and she wasn’t allowed to even step outside the home. The boy said, when suffering was intolerable, he planned the murder, so he ordered a knife online. And on May 27 night after an argument broke out between the victim and his minor son, the boy attacked his father while he was asleep, he slit his throat. And when Suryagyan woke up and saw the boy killing his father, he killed her as well.

Upon hearing commotion, when the victim’s mother Poosi Devi and niece Mahima came running, the accused minor attacked both women with sharp objects and killed them on the spot. Thereafter, the accused with help of Sunita and sister dragged and loaded bodies inside the Scorpio and set ablaze in a spot near the house.

The forensic team during investigation found bloodstains on the walls and floor of the residence, blood-stained bricks and a matchbox, hinting towards the murder plot. Investigators also discovered the failed try to clean the crime scene. So, based on this circumstantial evidence, Sunita, minor son and her daughter were questioned, where the boy admitted to the crime.
