22-Year-Old Man Dies After Alleged Negligence Outside UP Police Station

The CSR Journal Magazine

A 22-year-old man reportedly bled to death outside a police Pink Booth in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, after pleading for help for approximately 40 minutes. The incident occurred on July 12, and the man has been identified as Rajkumar, originally from Siwan district in Bihar. His family claims that he sought assistance from the police booth following a confrontation with an auto-rickshaw driver over a fare dispute.

According to family members, the altercation intensified, prompting Rajkumar to run toward the nearby police Pink Booth for help. They allege that the booth was closed, leading him to repeatedly knock on its glass gate to attract the attention of the officers inside. In the process, he reportedly shattered the glass, resulting in severe injuries to his hands and causing significant blood loss.

Despite enduring serious injuries, his family asserts that he remained at the scene for around 40 minutes without receiving medical assistance. Subsequently, he was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Public Reaction and Viral Footage Emerges

Following the incident, several videos allegedly connected to the event have gained traction on social media platforms. The footage reportedly depicts Rajkumar lying on the ground outside the police Pink Booth, with blood flowing from his wounds, while bystanders appear to gather nearby. The graphic nature of these videos has incited public outrage and has led to demands for accountability from the authorities.

Rajkumar’s family has publicly accused the police of negligence, claiming that their inaction contributed to his tragic death. They are calling for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident and for strict actions to be taken against those they believe bear responsibility for the delays in medical care.

Ghaziabad Police have responded to these allegations by providing a different account of the events. Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police (Kavinagar), Upasana Pandey, stated that both the auto-rickshaw driver and Rajkumar may have been under the influence of alcohol during their dispute over a money transaction before reaching the police station. She further claimed that Rajkumar was taken to the hospital immediately for treatment, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

Investigation Launched into Circumstances of the Incident

In light of the public outcry and conflicting narratives surrounding the case, officials from Ghaziabad Police have announced the formation of a special team to investigate the sequence of events. DCP City Dhawal Jaiswal indicated that the inquiry would focus on various factors, including the police response time, the provision of medical assistance, and the authenticity of the viral videos circulating online.

The discrepancy between the family’s claims and the police’s statement raises questions about the accountability of law enforcement agencies in such critical situations. As the investigation unfolds, community members await clarity on the events that transpired leading to Rajkumar’s untimely death, while closely monitoring the authorities’ actions in response.

This incident has not only captured attention due to its tragic nature but also highlights broader concerns regarding police responsiveness and community safety in Uttar Pradesh. The outcome of the investigation will be pivotal in addressing these pressing issues and restoring public trust in law enforcement agencies.
