Yes Madam Announces 0% Commission for Service Partners on Raksha Bandhan

The CSR Journal Magazine

Yes Madam, an established at-home salon and wellness platform in India, has declared a 0% commission for its extensive network of over 10,000 service partners in celebration of Raksha Bandhan. This initiative allows every service partner affiliated with Yes Madam to retain the entirety of their earnings from bookings made on this festive occasion.

Raksha Bandhan Initiative Lets Partners Keep 100% of Their Earnings

The decision is rooted in the cultural importance of Raksha Bandhan, particularly as a festival that underscores bonds of care and support. Notably, approximately 90% of Yes Madam’s partner community comprises women, many of whom are primary earners or single mothers. Yes Madam aims to fulfil its responsibility towards these professionals, recognising their vital role in the company’s growth and ongoing journey.

The initiative is designed to manifest the company’s values by extending this benefit to every service partner for the day, allowing them to retain 100% of their earnings, regardless of their current performance classification or how recently they joined the platform. Historically, only high-performing partners who met specific benchmarks previously enjoyed the 0% commission rate, making this move particularly significant.

Beyond the financial benefit, this initiative serves as a gesture of appreciation for the contributions made by service partners. By allowing them to earn entirely from their work on Raksha Bandhan, Yes Madam hopes to reinforce the value of these professionals, while simultaneously advocating for increased recognition and support for gig economy workers.

CEO Aditya Arya Highlights Recognition and Financial Support

Aditya Arya, Co-Founder and CEO of Yes Madam, commented on the initiative’s significance. He stated, “Our service partners are at the heart of what we have built at Yes Madam, and Raksha Bandhan holds a special significance for us given that a majority of our partner community comprises women. For us, this initiative is not about the business impact of foregoing commission for a day. It is about recognising that many of our service partners will step out and continue delivering services on the festive day. We wanted to acknowledge that commitment by ensuring that the day creates greater value for them and their families. We hope more brands consider initiatives that put their partners’ earnings and long-term well-being at the centre.”

This initiative is a continuation of Yes Madam’s broader strategy to support its gig workforce through various measures focused on enhancing earnings, financial security, well-being, and recognition. Over time, the company has introduced numerous measures aimed at supporting its service partners, including offering a 0% commission rate for pregnant partners, providing free health check-ups, fostering access to interest-free loans, and facilitating educational support. Additional benefits include accidental term insurance and lower commission categories designed to provide meaningful assistance to service partners.

Collectively, these initiatives reflect Yes Madam’s commitment to supporting service professionals beyond mere earnings, challenging traditional industry practices regarding how gig platforms should engage with and support their workforce.
