An interaction program featuring Women Self-Help Group (SHG) members and Lakhpati Didis took place today at the International Indoor Exhibition Hall in Hapania.

Vice President CP Radhakrishnan and Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha attended the event, which celebrated the remarkable journeys and success stories of women involved in Self-Help Groups. These women have made significant strides through entrepreneurship and community initiatives.

During the event, several SHG members and Lakhpati Didis recounted their personal experiences, illustrating how government initiatives and collective efforts have enabled them to attain financial independence and social empowerment. Participants had the opportunity to visit various exhibition stalls at the venue, where SHG members showcased a diverse array of handmade products. The stalls displayed locally crafted items created by women entrepreneurs, underscoring their creativity, skills, and commitment to self-reliance.

The program underscored the critical role of women-led development and the vital contributions of Self-Help Groups in promoting the rural economy. The empowerment of SHG members and the rise of Lakhpati Didis serve as a testament to the vast potential of women, or Nari Shakti, as they play an essential role in building a more self-sufficient Tripura.

Prime Minister’s Statement on Women’s Empowerment

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public gathering in New Delhi to mark International Women’s Day, referring to significant advancements in women’s empowerment. He noted the government’s initiative aimed at helping three crore women attain financial independence under the “”Lakhpati Didi”” program.

The Prime Minister expressed pride in achieving this milestone, noting that over three crore women have now reached this status. He acknowledged initial skepticism about the government’s commitment but reaffirmed the fulfillment of their promise.
