Tensions flared outside Nimta Police Station on Thursday as veteran Trinamool Congress (TMC) Member of Parliament, Sougata Roy, faced a hostile demonstration. The senior politician was heckled with slogans and pelted with raw eggs as he attempted to leave the premises.

The Incident

The senior leader had visited the Nimta Police Station for official business earlier today. While the area was initially quiet, a large crowd allegedly including BJP supporters—gathered quickly as news of his presence spread.

As Roy exited the station to reach his vehicle, the atmosphere turned volatile. Protesters began shouting “thief” and other derogatory remarks. Amidst the chaos, an individual within the crowd hurled raw eggs at the MP while police personnel struggled to maintain order.

“This is just the trailer; the full movie is yet to come,” one protester claimed , suggesting that public anger against the veteran leader remains high.

Escalating Tensions

Despite the heavy police presence, the situation remained tense for several minutes until security forces managed to escort Roy safely out of the area. This confrontation follows a string of heated political exchanges in West Bengal, highlighting the deeply polarized climate in the region.

Authorities have not yet confirmed any arrests related to the egg-pelting incident, though local police are reportedly reviewing footage from the scene to identify the agitators.
