Veritas Foundation Expands Scholarship Programme, Supports 100 More Students in Tamil Nadu

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Veritas Foundation has expanded its higher education scholarship initiative, Kanavu Meipada Vendum, providing support to an additional 100 students from economically and socially disadvantaged backgrounds in Tamil Nadu. This expansion comes ahead of the World Day Against Child Labour, observed on June 12. Originally launched in 2025, the programme aims to create pathways for students who face financial hardships in pursuing their higher education.

In its inaugural year, the programme successfully awarded scholarships to 40 students who graduated from government schools situated in Perambalur and various other districts across Tamil Nadu. The main goal of this initiative is to remove financial barriers that prevent deserving students from continuing their education and reaching their full potential.

Expanded Support and Selection Process

Building on the achievements of the previous year, Veritas Foundation has significantly broadened the scope of its scholarship programme for the year 2026. This year, the foundation selected 100 more students from over 15 districts within Tamil Nadu to receive financial assistance and mentorship to pursue three-year undergraduate degree programmes. This comprehensive support aims to address the specific educational needs and challenges faced by these students.

The selection process was rigorous, ensuring that deserving candidates were identified based on their academic performance and financial circumstances. This marks a crucial step towards enhancing educational equity across the region, allowing more students to secure a place in higher education institutions.

The award ceremony for the scholarships took place at Jamal Mohamed College in Tiruchirappalli and was attended by notable figures in the education sector. The event served as a platform to celebrate the recipients and raise awareness about the importance of educational support for underprivileged sections of society.

Inaugural Ceremony and Key Participants

The scholarship award ceremony held at Jamal Mohamed College was graced by several distinguished guests and educational leaders. Noteworthy attendees included T.S. Sridhar, IAS (Retd.), who is the Chairman of Veritas Foundation, and K. Abdus Samad, Assistant Secretary of Jamal Mohamed College. Other prominent figures included T. Arulmani, the Founder and Managing Director of Veritas Finance Limited and Managing Trustee of the foundation, as well as R. Jahir Hussain, Principal of Jamal Mohamed College.

The programme attracted a wide range of attendees, including academicians, social development professionals, and various stakeholders in the education sector. Their presence underscored the collective commitment to supporting educational initiatives aimed at empowering talented individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds.

With the Kanavu Meipada Vendum initiative, the Veritas Foundation remains dedicated to fostering educational opportunities and promoting long-term growth for students. The foundation’s efforts contribute significantly to inclusive development within Tamil Nadu, ensuring that capable students have access to the resources they need to succeed in their higher education pursuits.
