Veteran voice actor Tom Kane, known for his roles in various animated series, has passed away at the age of 64. His death was reported by TMZ through his representative, marking the end of a prominent career in the animation industry. Kane was best known for providing the voice of Professor Utonium in the beloved animated series The Powerpuff Girls.

The news of his demise was confirmed by Zach McGinnis, Kane’s representative, who explained that the actor succumbed to complications following a stroke he suffered in 2020. The incident led to significant health issues that ultimately contributed to his passing.

Health Struggles Leading to His Demise

Kane experienced a severe stroke in November 2020, which had a profound effect on his well-being. Reports indicated that the stroke affected the left side of his brain, resulting in the weakening of the right side of his body and impairing his speech centre. This deterioration in health significantly hampered his ability to communicate in the years leading up to his death.

Following the stroke, Kane faced numerous health challenges that progressively worsened over time. He was hospitalised in Kansas City, where he ultimately passed away on May 18. This tragic turn of events highlights the impact that health complications can have on individuals and their families.

In an emotional tribute, McGinnis shared a statement that expressed the enduring influence of Kane’s voice. “Though his voice may now be silent, the characters, stories and love he gave to the world will live on forever,” the statement read, emphasising Kane’s lasting legacy in the realm of animation.

Legacy and Family

Beyond his illustrious career, Kane was described as a devoted husband and father. He and his wife, Cindy Roberts, built a large family consisting of nine children—comprising three biological children and six more welcomed through adoption and fostering. This family dynamic reflects his commitment to nurturing a loving home, which was a significant aspect of his life.

Kane’s contributions to animation were not limited to The Powerpuff Girls. He gained recognition for his roles in the Star Wars franchise, having voiced Admiral Ackbar in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. He also lent his voice to iconic characters like Jedi Master Yoda and Admiral Yularen in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, showcasing his versatility as a voice actor.
