Time And Tide Wins Dr. S.C. Jain Sprinters’ Championship at Mahalaxmi Racecourse

Dominant Performance by Time And Tide in Feature Race

Time And Tide, trained by Imtiaz A. Sait and ridden by jockey S. Zervan, claimed victory in the Dr. S.C. Jain Sprinters’ Championship, the feature event held at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse in Mumbai. The prestigious race attracted a strong field of sprinters, but the five-year-old mare outpaced the competition to secure the top spot.

The Grade 2 event, run over a distance of 1,200 metres, witnessed Time And Tide displaying excellent acceleration in the final stretch. The mare moved comfortably through the early stages before producing a late surge that proved decisive. Her strong finish placed her convincingly ahead of the rest of the field.

Stable Connections Celebrate Notable Triumph

Trained by veteran handler Imtiaz A. Sait, Time And Tide has shown consistent form throughout the current season. Sunday’s performance further underlined her credentials as one of the leading sprinters in the Western India circuit. She was well-supported in the betting and lived up to expectations with this well-judged ride under S. Zervan.

The win brought satisfaction and celebration among connections, with the mare showing the benefit of patient conditioning and expert handling. This victory also added another significant title to the record of the Sait stable, which has maintained a strong presence in Indian racing over the decades.

Close Competition Among Prominent Contenders

Competition in the nine-runner field was closely contested, with several accomplished sprinters lining up in pursuit of the title. Despite pressure from rivals such as Market King and Iron Age, Time And Tide managed to hold her lead. Market King fought hard and rallied in the straight, but could not match the turn of foot displayed by the eventual winner.

Iron Age, a consistent sprinter in recent seasons, looked well-placed in the early stages but began to fade under pressure. Meanwhile, seasoned runners like Hunting Goddess and Leopard Rock tried to make headway but were unable to challenge the leaders in the closing stages.

Other Races and Key Results from the Mumbai Meeting

The Mumbai racing programme on Sunday also featured several supporting events. In the Pune Police Trophy, Silver Springs claimed a hard-fought win under apprentice jockey A. Prakash. The filly showed improvement and determination over her previous outings.

In the upper-class handicap events, Inamorata and Fortunate Son registered victories in their respective divisions. Both horses demonstrated stamina and race sense to finish strongly in competitive company. The day’s card saw participation from leading owners and prominent trainers, maintaining a high standard of competition across the board.

Well-Attended Day at Mahalaxmi Racecourse

The racing day attracted a sizeable crowd at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse, with the weather remaining clear and racegoers enjoying an afternoon of competitive action. The Dr. S.C. Jain Sprinters’ Championship continues to be one of the highlights of the Mumbai winter racing calendar, drawing top talent from across the country.

Racing officials and the Royal Western India Turf Club ensured smooth conduct of the races throughout the day. The next scheduled races at the venue are expected to continue the momentum built during Sunday’s feature-heavy meeting.
