The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has taken decisive action by suspending three engineers from its Building Department due to alleged negligence in handling unauthorised constructions. This step follows a thorough review of their duties related to building regulations. The engineers involved are Ravinder Kumar, serving as an Assistant Engineer in the South West Zone, along with Junior Engineers Suman Saurabh and Mohit Yadav, both also assigned to the same zone.

The suspensions became effective immediately after orders were issued by the civic body on September 7. The MCD has stated that these actions were taken in accordance with service regulations as a direct response to findings of professional misconduct. The purpose behind this decision is to reinforce the standards of accountability within the department.

A bench comprising Justices Ahsanuddin Amanullah and R Mahadevan has mandated that all involved parties submit their findings to the Court. Furthermore, the Delhi High Court has directed the MCD to assess the safety conditions of paying guest accommodations and hostels, highlighting the need for stricter enforcement of safety standards in relationship to occupancy regulations.
