Ten New Suspected Victims of Epstein Emerge in France Amid Ongoing Investigation

The CSR Journal Magazine

The investigation into Jeffrey Epstein and his purported network has broadened after ten previously unidentified alleged victims reached out to French authorities. This development follows the release of new court documents from the United States, which are associated with the convicted sex offender, according to Paris’ head public prosecutor. The French government formed a specialised task force in February to scrutinise potential crimes related to Epstein within France or involving French nationals linked to his activities.

The creation of this task force coincided with the release of additional documents by the United States Justice Department concerning Epstein’s long-standing investigation. According to Paris Public Prosecutor Laure Beccuau, almost twenty individuals have contacted investigators since the launch of this initiative. She stated, “Some were already known to investigators, but we also had new victims come forward, ones we didn’t know at all. There are around ten of them,” during an interview with RTL Radio reported by AFP.

Several of the alleged victims that have come forward currently reside outside of France. This aligns with the broader international implications of the case and the need for cooperation across borders in the investigative effort.

Thorough Review of Evidence

Authorities in Paris are currently analysing a variety of materials, including telephone records, address books, and computer data, alongside the names referenced in the newly released US documents. Public Prosecutor Beccuau disclosed, “We have also retrieved Mr Epstein’s computer, his telephone records, his address books.” This meticulous examination aims to identify possible connections to Epstein’s operations within France.

Although no significant suspects have yet been formally interrogated in the renewed enquiry, prosecutors emphasised the importance of fully understanding Epstein’s relationships with key figures in France before proceeding with questioning. Beccuau remarked, “It is only once we have fully understood Epstein’s relationships with the other key figures in France that we will hear from the defendants.” Epstein, who was awaiting trial on charges related to the trafficking of underage girls, died in a Manhattan prison in 2019, with his death officially ruled as a suicide.

The investigation reflects ongoing global interest and outrage over Epstein’s actions and their potential implications. Authorities are committed to uncovering the full extent of the alleged criminal network, and international cooperation will likely play a critical role in this objective.

Key Figures Examined in the Probe

Several individuals previously associated with earlier investigations are once again under scrutiny as the probe expands. Notably, former modelling agent Jean-Luc Brunel had been accused of rape and trafficking minors for Epstein prior to his death in prison in 2022. Prosecutors suspect Brunel was instrumental in recruiting and transporting young women linked to Epstein’s network.

Gerald Marie, a former executive at Elite modelling agency, is also under investigation for allegations of sexual assault and trafficking-related crimes. He has denied any wrongdoing. Additionally, modelling scout Daniel Siad has been named in French media reports as another figure of interest, with two former models accusing him of grooming them for potential introduction to Epstein or Marie.

The recent release of American court documents has intensified scrutiny on various public figures whose names appear in conjunction with Epstein. Investigators have made it clear that simply being mentioned does not necessarily indicate criminal involvement. Prominent names include former French culture minister Jack Lang, who has denied any misconduct after it was reported that his name appeared multiple times in the files.
