Bill Gates Testifies Before US House Oversight Committee

The CSR Journal Magazine

Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft, recently provided testimony to a US congressional panel, unveiling that he had been involved in affairs with three women. These revelations came during a closed-door session of the House Oversight Committee, which was investigating the connections of the late Jeffery Epstein. Gates’ appearance was prompted by the release of new documents from the Justice Department that raised fresh questions about his past engagements with Epstein, who died in 2019 while in custody.

During the session on June 10, Gates disclosed that Epstein was aware of two of the affairs, specifically naming bridge player Mila Antonova and nuclear physicist Karima Nigmatulina. He also acknowledged a third relationship with medical entrepreneur Alice Jacobs Nesselrodt. Gates stated, “These affairs had nothing to do with my interactions with Epstein, but they were painful for my family,” as per the transcript released following the session.

Addressing the reasons for his previous associations with Epstein, Gates explained that his desire to engage in philanthropic discussions led him to maintain contact with Epstein. He stated that while he was aware of Epstein’s criminal past, he chose to meet him in a limited capacity.

Claims of Blackmail and Manipulation

Gates contended during questioning that Epstein allegedly contemplated using the knowledge of his personal affairs to exert pressure on him. He reported that, although Epstein never proceeded with any blackmail, the nature of their communications suggested such intentions. “He never blackmailed me, but looking at these emails, it raises a serious probability that he contemplated blackmailing me,” Gates noted.

His comments were linked to an email draft from 2013, attributed to Epstein, which alluded to allegations regarding Gates’ private life, alongside references to Boris Nikolic, who was a mutual acquaintance. Gates pointed out that the communication appeared to function as a means for Epstein to establish leverage over him.

“Who knows if he ever sent it to Dr. Nikolic, but it looks like he’s musing on using a mixture of facts and falsities as an effort, almost like a blackmail, to advance some goal,” Gates explained, indicating the manipulative potential of their exchanges.

Denial of STD Concerns and Past Communications

During the hearing, lawmakers questioned Gates about claims that he had expressed concerns over a sexually transmitted infection following one of the affairs. Gates consistently denied ever being diagnosed with an STD. He remarked, “I never had an STD… I may have indicated some concern about whether I had an STD; I don’t recall that. But I never had an STD. I never gave medicines to anyone covertly.”

Gates did acknowledge that he might have discussed potential health concerns with Nikolic, reinforcing that his communications were not indicative of any wrongdoing. The testimony also revealed that Gates had met Epstein approximately twelve to fourteen times over four years, alongside having two video conversations.

The testimony indicated that these meetings continued even after Epstein’s conviction for sex offences in 2008, during which Epstein purportedly claimed he could connect Gates with wealthy donors for philanthropic efforts. Gates mentioned that these promises were never fulfilled, highlighting the friction in their partnership.

A spokesperson for the Gates Foundation asserted that Gates had taken responsibility for his actions during a prior meeting with employees, amid growing scrutiny of the organisation’s past interactions with Epstein. In April, the Foundation initiated an external review to assess its relationship with the disgraced financier, further documented through emails released by the Justice Department that confirmed communications between Epstein and Foundation staff.
