Ranveer Singh Sends Legal Notice to FWICE Over Don 3 Exit Dispute and Non-Cooperation Order

The CSR Journal Magazine

The ongoing dispute between actor Ranveer Singh and the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has reportedly escalated into a legal matter. Singh has served a legal notice to FWICE after the organisation issued a directive of non-cooperation concerning his departure from the film Don 3.

The legal notice was allegedly dispatched on Tuesday, shortly after the FWICE requested its members not to engage in any projects featuring Singh. While the specifics of the notice remain confidential, reports indicate that FWICE is now obliged to counter the notice through appropriate legal channels.

Background of the Controversy

The controversy was sparked by FWICE’s action in response to a complaint made by filmmaker Farhan Akhtar. The organisation claimed that Akhtar had informed them of Singh’s withdrawal from Don 3 just days prior to the commencement of filming, allegedly resulting in considerable disruption to the production schedule.

On May 25, FWICE issued a statement outlining that Akhtar and producer Ritesh Sidhwani had reported incurring around ₹45 crores in pre-production expenses for the film. The notice expressed significant concern that the unexpected exit of a lead actor at such an advanced stage could lead to severe financial repercussions for the producers and hinder the film’s overall execution.

In light of the situation, FWICE proceeded to announce a directive of non-cooperation against Singh. The organisation’s president, Ashoke Pandit, addressed the media, emphasising that members across all sectors would refrain from working on any of Singh’s projects. FWICE called for a unified stance among producers to voice their opposition to Singh’s actions.

FWICE’s Position and Clarification

So far, Singh has refrained from making any public remarks regarding the unfolding situation. The issuance of a legal notice, however, indicates that he is prepared to challenge FWICE’s decision, reinforcing his position in the ongoing dispute.

As this legal matter progresses, the film community is closely observing the developments, particularly with respect to the potential impact on the production of Don 3 and Singh’s career. This dispute highlights the often complex relationships between actors and production entities within the Indian film industry.
