Jai Narain Vyas University (JNVU) has launched an inquiry into alleged examination malpractice at a college in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer district after a flying squad reportedly found invigilators dictating answers to students during a Bachelor of Arts (BA) second-year examination.

The university has sealed 93 answer sheets from the examination centre and initiated disciplinary proceedings following the surprise inspection. The incident came to light on Wednesday, days after the inspection was conducted on Saturday.

Flying Squad Alleges Invigilators Assisted Students

The alleged malpractice occurred at Shri Karni College in Kajoi village during the BA second-year Hindi Literature examination held between 7 am and 10 am on Saturday.

According to university officials, a flying squad comprising Professor Aman Singh, Suresh Choudhary, Lalit Jhala and Gaurav Jain conducted a surprise inspection at the examination centre.

During the visit, the team allegedly found two invigilators, identified as Jai Karan and Om Prakash, dictating answers to students inside the examination hall.

Officials said a preliminary review of the answer scripts revealed striking similarities in the responses written by several candidates.

Based on these findings, the university sealed all 93 answer sheets from the examination hall and registered a case of alleged mass cheating.

CCTV Footage Under Examination

University officials said CCTV footage from the examination centre was also reviewed as part of the investigation.

According to the officials, the footage allegedly corroborated the findings of the flying squad by showing invigilators dictating answers to students during the examination.

The university has initiated a detailed inquiry and said disciplinary action will be taken against those found responsible.

Students Given Fresh Answer Books

Shyam Sundar Meena, Principal of the Government College in Jaisalmer, confirmed that the flying squad noticed suspicious activities during its inspection.

He said students whose answer sheets had been seized were issued fresh answer books to continue writing the examination.

Meena added that under university regulations, students found guilty of using unfair means could face debarment from examinations for a period ranging from one to three years.

He said the final decision would be taken after a high-level meeting of the university authorities.

University Reiterates Zero-Tolerance Policy

Vice-Chancellor Prof Pawan Kumar Sharma said the university maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards examination malpractice and assured that strict action would be taken against anyone found guilty after the inquiry.

The flying squad also inspected several other examination centres across Jaisalmer and neighbouring Barmer district, where another alleged cheating case was reported at the Shiv examination centre.
