Rajasthan: Two Minor Sisters Found Dead in River, Father and Son Detained

The CSR Journal Magazine

The suspected deaths of two minor sisters in Rajasthan’s Dholpur district have drawn significant attention and concern from local residents. Authorities are exploring various angles, including the potential for an honour killing connected to an alleged romantic relationship. The incident originated in Farakpura village, located within the Sadar police station jurisdiction.

According to reports, Bharat Lodha, the father of the missing girls, raised alarms after they disappeared under questionable circumstances. Family members prompted a village assembly to discuss the alarming situation, during which Lodha allegedly claimed the girls had accidentally fallen into the River Chambal. This proclamation incited fear and speculation amongst villagers, leading to a prompt notification to law enforcement.

Upon receiving information, Superintendent of Police Vikas Sangwan, accompanied by Additional Superintendent of Police Vaibhav Sharma and City Circle Officer Krishnaraj Jangid, led a team comprising personnel from multiple police stations and forensic experts to the scene. They began a comprehensive investigation and initiated a search operation in the River Chambal area.

Details Surrounding the Sisters’ Disappearance

A relative by the name of Lakhpat Lodha alleged that Bharat Lodha took four children, along with his wife, son, and brother, on a vehicle trip on June 11. He claimed the family later became aware that the two girls had been killed. During the village assembly, Lakhpat contended that Bharat mentioned the girls had fallen into the Chambal river by accident. This assertion has raised numerous questions among community members regarding the credibility of the father’s statements.

Superintendent of Police Vikas Sangwan confirmed that authorities received information that suggested the alleged killings were orchestrated by Bharat Lodha and other family members. Initial questioning of witnesses indicated that the sisters had been involved in a romantic liaison, which reportedly led to episodes of counselling and physical abuse by their family due to societal pressures surrounding honour.

According to preliminary findings from investigators, it is suspected that the sisters were taken to a bridge over the Chambal river and forced into the water. The police have emphasised that these results are initial interpretations, and no definitive conclusions have been established at this point in the investigation.

Current Status of the Investigation

In the wake of accumulating evidence, law enforcement has detained both Bharat Lodha and his son for further questioning regarding the incident. The inquiry continues, with officials employing both technical and human intelligence methods to unravel the complex circumstances surrounding the sisters’ disappearance.

Search teams remain actively engaged in efforts to locate the missing children, fuelling concern within the community. The village is reportedly in a state of tension and sorrow as law enforcement strives to clarify the series of events leading up to this tragic occurrence.

As the investigation progresses, updates will be provided regarding any developments related to the case and the fate of the two minor sisters. Authorities are keen to ensure a thorough examination of all evidence to bring any responsible parties to justice.
