The husband, Nitesh Kumar, aged 32, arrived at the in-laws’ house the same day. Shortly after his arrival, he called Kanta to a nearby lane under the pretense of wanting to speak with her. Once they were isolated, he allegedly used a knife to slit her throat, resulting in her immediate death.

Following the attack on Kanta, Nitesh is said to have inflicted several stab wounds on himself. Locals reported that he was discovered in a large pool of blood moments later, with the knife still in his possession. Nitesh then made his way to the village square where he sat in front of a shop, visibly injured.
