Poonam Dhillon Says CINTAA Was Not Consulted on Ranveer Singh’s Exit From Don 3

The CSR Journal Magazine

Poonam Dhillon, the president of the Cine and TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA), expressed disappointment regarding the current situation surrounding actor Ranveer Singh’s exit from the upcoming film Don 3. The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has issued a directive of non-cooperation against Singh, which has resulted in various reactions within the film industry. Dhillon noted that CINTAA had not been consulted by any party involved in the issue, leaving the organisation with limited insight into the situation.

Dhillon remarked that the lack of communication from both the actor and the producers left CINTAA in a difficult position. She highlighted that the association could not take a definitive stance without a thorough understanding of the facts surrounding the exit. Speaking to Variety India, she stated, “CINTAA, as an association, would have liked to have been at least approached by both parties or either of the parties if there was a problem.”

She further elaborated that it was peculiar to be left out of the discussions, especially since Singh is a member of CINTAA. Dhillon mentioned that they had no information on the issue to guide their response. “It’s a very strange situation to be in because it’s one of our members, but neither the artist, the producer, nor the Federation has informed us or taken us into confidence,” she added.

Industry Reactions to the Situation

Manoj Bajpayee also addressed the situation during a recent event. At the trailer launch of his upcoming film Governor, he conveyed that most industry professionals are learning about the developments through social media, lacking accurate and detailed information. In an interview with India Today, he stated, “I must tell you one thing: all the people who are in this industry are only reading it on social media and we don’t have detailed information about it.”

Bajpayee expressed hope that the ongoing issue would be resolved soon, affirming solidarity among fellow members of the film fraternity. He pointed out that without proper information, it becomes challenging for colleagues in the industry to respond appropriately to the developments concerning Singh and Don 3.

The situation escalated after Singh’s unexpected exit from the film, prompting Farhan Akhtar and Excel Entertainment to seek compensation for alleged pre-production losses amounting to approximately Rs 40–45 crore. This issue was subsequently escalated to the Producers Guild of India, eventually leading to FWICE’s involvement.

FWICE Issues Non-Cooperation Directive

The FWICE issued a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh on May 25, citing his failure to respond to repeated requests to meet and discuss the situation. This directive came in the wake of claims made by the production team regarding significant financial investments that had already been made. FWICE adviser Ashoke Pandit alleged that these expenditures included hotel bookings, international travel, location scouting, and other pre-production arrangements prior to Singh’s departure from the project.

Thus far, the developments surrounding Singh’s exit from Don 3 remain contentious. With various parties involved and the absence of clear communication, CINTAA and other industry stakeholders continue to seek clarity amidst the rapidly evolving situation.

The circumstances surrounding this incident underline the importance of open dialogue in the film industry, especially when disputes arise that affect numerous stakeholders. As the matter continues to unfold, industry professionals hope for a resolution that will satisfy all parties involved in the ongoing conflict.
