Oura Ring 5 Launches as World’s Smallest Smart Ring

The CSR Journal Magazine

Oura has introduced the fifth generation of its smart ring, called the Oura Ring 5, marking its global debut. This release comes a year and a half after the launch of the Ring 4, along with the Ring 4 Ceramic, which was unveiled seven months earlier. The company claims that the new model is the smallest smart ring on the market, boasting a design that is approximately 40 per cent smaller than its predecessor.

Advanced Features and Capabilities

The Oura Ring 5 showcases improved sensing capabilities, enhanced battery life, and various new health-oriented software features. Notably, the ring offers battery life extending from six to nine days, an upgrade from the five to eight days of its predecessor. Enhanced sensors have been engineered for better skin contact, with more powerful LEDs added to ensure accuracy across diverse skin tones and finger sizes.

Among the most significant updates is a feature called “Health Radar,” which functions as a background monitoring system to track critical biometric signals. New additions include Blood Pressure Signals to observe overnight cardiovascular patterns and warn users of potential high blood pressure. Furthermore, users can input their blood pressure readings manually into the accompanying Oura app.

The newly introduced Nighttime Breathing feature provides users with a 30-day continuous overview of their sleep-related breathing patterns, identifying disturbances during the night. Additionally, Oura is collaborating with Counsel Health to provide AI-assisted medical guidance and direct access to licensed physicians through the app for users in the United States, offering this service for an extra fee.

Fitness Tracking Innovations

The app has also advanced its fitness tracking capabilities, with the addition of live activity tracking. Users can monitor their pace, distance, and heart rate in real-time during workouts. An automatic activity detection feature has been improved, allowing better recognition of low-motion exercises, such as Pilates, that were previously challenging to identify.

In addition to these features, the app will provide insights into GLP-1 medications and introduce a new Brain Health Study aimed at investigating the correlation between physiological trends and cognitive performance. These enhancements underscore Oura’s commitment to integrating technology with health monitoring.

Pricing and Availability

The Oura Ring 5 is now available for pre-order, with shipping set to commence on June 4, 2026. The ring comes in sizes ranging from 6 to 13 and is offered in six different finishes: Silver, Brushed Silver, Black, Stealth, Gold, and Deep Rose. The Black and Silver options are priced at $399 (approximately Rs 38,088), while the remaining colour varieties are available for $499 (around Rs 47,634). This new pricing contrasts with the previous generation, the Ring 4, which launched at a starting price of $349 (roughly Rs 33,314).
