Noida and Greater Noida schools have revised their operating hours amidst escalating temperatures and worsening heatwave conditions. This decision by the Gautam Buddha Nagar administration aims to protect students from the adverse effects of extreme weather. The new schedule will be implemented starting from April 27, 2026, providing much-needed relief for parents and children alike.

According to the directive issued by district authorities, all types of schools in the region, including government, aided, and private institutions—will now operate from 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM. This adjustment affects schools associated with various educational boards, including the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE), International Baccalaureate (IB), and the Uttar Pradesh (UP) Board.

The district administration’s prompt action underscores the urgency of this issue, especially with temperatures reaching critical levels. It aims to mitigate risks associated with children’s health during the particularly heated afternoons.

Focus On Student Well-Being

The authorities emphasised that this decision prioritises the health, safety, and overall well-being of students, given the rising temperatures and the ongoing heatwave affecting Delhi-NCR, including Noida and Greater Noida. Reducing school hours is anticipated to limit students’ exposure to the extreme heat typically experienced in the afternoons, which can pose significant health risks.

Students typically travel to and from school during the hottest parts of the day, which can lead to fatigue and heat-related illnesses. Therefore, shortening the school day is intended to create a safer environment for children during this period of intense weather.

Temporary Measures Until Further Notice

The revised school timings will remain effective until the district administration announces any further changes. Officials have stressed the importance of adherence to these new timings, stressing that all educational facilities in Gautam Buddha Nagar must comply with this order.

The District Magistrate has issued instructions aimed at enforcing this adjustment strictly. Schools are encouraged to communicate the new timings clearly to parents and students to ensure a smooth transition and minimise any confusion regarding the schedule revisions.
