Noida Man Dies After Electrocution and Falling into Drain

The CSR Journal Magazine

A 28-year-old engineer named Aryan tragically lost his life in Noida earlier this week after he was allegedly electrocuted and subsequently fell into rainwater accumulated in a roadside drain. The incident occurred on Thursday, July 9, during a period of heavy rainfall in the region, which affected Noida and other areas of the National Capital Region (NCR). According to reports from local authorities, this unfortunate event was captured by a nearby CCTV camera.

Details of the Incident

Witnesses and authorities have stated that Aryan was on his way to work amidst severe waterlogging in the streets when he encountered the electric pole. Police reports indicate that a short circuit on the pole may have caused the electric shock that led to his fall into the water. He was later declared dead upon arrival at the hospital, prompting a comprehensive review of the circumstances surrounding his death.

A statement released by the police on Saturday, July 11, confirmed that forensic examinations did not reveal any visible external injuries on Aryan’s body. They noted that the viscera had been preserved for further forensic analysis to better determine the cause of death. This step suggests that authorities are continuing to investigate the matter thoroughly.

Preliminary findings indicated that Aryan had been walking over concrete slabs that were placed over the drain. It was suggested that one of these slabs might not have been stable. This instability could have contributed to his fall into the water. Bystanders reportedly retrieved him from the drain in an unconscious state, and despite efforts to resuscitate him through CPR, he did not regain consciousness.

Related Incidents

This tragic incident coincided with another similarly distressing event that took place on the same day. Reports emerged of another young man who lost his life after falling into rainwater near a transformer in the nearby Ghaziabad area, which also experienced significant rainfall on Thursday. The string of accidents has raised concerns regarding safety measures in places affected by the heavy downpours.

Authorities have been urged to assess and improve the safety protocols in areas prone to flooding and electrical hazards. The persistence of waterlogging and its dangerous implications for pedestrians are significant issues that need quick resolution, especially during the monsoon season.

Ongoing investigations into Aryan’s death and the circumstances surrounding it continue to be a priority for local authorities. The community has expressed grief and concern over the escalating risks posed by the combination of inadequate infrastructure and severe weather conditions.
