This is the wedding of Pakistani politician Maryam Nawaz’s son Junaid Safdar and Shanzeh Ali Rohale that happened in Lahore. Fans have been obsessively posting every minute details from the wedding and it has gone viral. This is one of the high-profile weddings of the recent years, Maryam Nawaz, Chief Minister of Pakistan’s Punjab and daughter of X PM Nawaz Sharif.
Maryam Nawaz’s daughter-in-law wears Indian designers’ outfits
As per the Dawn’s report, the wedding celebrations started from Thursday with a mehendi ceremony at Maryam Nawaz’s home in Lahore. The bride Rohale was seen wearing an emerald green lehenga designed by Sabyasachi. When this information of Sabyasachi designing the lehenga broke, there was a lot of criticism in some sections of Pakistan for selecting an Indian designer over many other popular Pakistani designers. Not only that, Rohale even wore a lehenga designed by an Indian designer for her nikah as well. She was seen in a red Tarun Tahiliani saree and a dupatta for the wedding ceremony.
Wedding pictures have gone viral, and social media users are busy dissecting everything, from the outfit designers, to outfit patterns, colour, makeup and even the guest list.
Why was Maryam Nawaz slammed?
While social media users are busy dissecting each and every aspect of the wedding, one of the most talking points was Maryam Nawaz’s looks for all the events, be it mehendi, nikhah and the reception. She was slammed by many for outshining the bride with her glamorous looks. For her outfit and jewelry, The Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N) leader Matyam chose Pakistani designers Nomi Ansari and Iqbal Hussain. One user wrote, “Looks more like the bride yet again,” another user wrote, “I am not complaining about her dress and jewellery but at least she can have body language like a mother. She is literally sitting and behaving like a bride,”. May even said that she has a naturally tasteful sense of style and cannot be blamed for her style and beauty.
Who is Shanzeh Ali Rohale?
Rohale is the granddaughter of Sheikh Rohale Asghar, a PML-N leader. A month back Asghar had confirmed that his granddaughter’s marriage has been fixed with Nawaz Sharif’s grandson Junaid Safdar. Junaid Safdar is getting married for the second time, he was earlier married to Ayesha Saifur Rehman, the duo had parted ways in 2023. The duo had shared an Insta post about the separation, “News about my divorce is true. This is an entirely private matter and I request the media to respect our privacy. I hope with this decision we find our peace In Shaa Allah. I will speak no further on this matter. I wish her well.”
On the education front, Safdar has a master’s degree in International Relations from the London School of Economics (LSE). He even has a master’s degree in Global Governance and Ethics from the University College London.
