This victory confirms Nikhil’s continued presence in the tournament.

Deepak made a noteworthy impression in the men’s 70kg division, where he faced Japan’s Sewon Okazawa, a silver medalist from the 2025 World Championships. Deepak also won decisively, achieving a 5-0 verdict, and thereby cementing his place in the next round alongside Nikhil.

In the women’s competition, Saneh showcased her boxing skills in the 65kg category, overcoming South Korea’s Seon Sujin with a score of 4-1. This win allows Saneh to progress further in the tournament, contributing to India’s overall performance at the championship.

As the tournament advances to Day 4, two more Indian boxers are set to compete. Minakshi, in the women’s 51kg category, will face Poland’s Natalia Kuczewska. Concurrently, Abhinash Jamwal will take on Kyrgyzstan’s Mirzokhid Imamnazarov in the 65kg category. On Day 3, the Indian contingent witnessed mixed outcomes in other preliminary matches. Malsawmtluanga, competing in the 80kg category, faced a setback, losing to Jordan’s Ashaish Hussein by a score of 1-4. Additionally, Mahi Lama, representing the women’s 60kg division, exited the tournament after a 0-5 defeat to Mongolia’s Monkhor Namuun. These results highlight the challenges faced by athletes in high-stakes competitions.
