Fire broke out in a warehouse situated in Neemrana town of Kotputli-Behror district in Rajasthan. In the tragic accident, four people lost their lives, including two labourers and two minor girls. Rescue operations continued until early Saturday morning. Superintendent of Police Satveer Singh said, “The fire was controlled after significant effort by both the fire and rescue teams.” Following this accident, authorities are examining the legality and operational compliance of the warehouse. An investigation has been initiated to determine whether the warehouse operated with the necessary permissions. A detailed investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the fire.

Four Dead, Including Two Minor Girls

Police identified the victims as 15-year-old Kavita, 7-year-old Kavita’s sister, and drivers identified as Ravindutt Yadav and Johnny. The preliminary finding indicates that the drivers had come from Haryana to purchase plastic material from the godown. When the fire broke out in the scrap godown, the minor girl were separating the caps of the perfume bottles.

Police suspect the half burnt bidi as the primary cause of the fire. According to officials, the drivers threw the half burnt bidi which came into contact with the spirits in the bottles and caused the fire. “As the flame rose, victims rushed to save themselves, but the godown wall acted as a barrier, and they failed to escape. They got trapped and died of suffocation; later, the fire charred their bodies,” shared an official.

One woman working at the warehouse somehow managed to escape, but sustained a minor injury during the run.  Currently police have detained one of the godown’s associates, who is being questioned, but the owner Karan Singh has been absconding since the accident.
