Gujarat Board to Hold GUJCET on March 29, Over 1.35 Lakh Students Expected

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB) is scheduled to conduct the Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GUJCET) on Sunday, March 29, 2026. This examination is essential for students aiming to gain admission into Degree Engineering and Degree Diploma Pharmacy programs in Gujarat following their Class 12 Science education. Results from the GUJCET, alongside Class 12 board examination scores, will be utilized to formulate the merit list for prospective admissions.

Student Participation and Demographics

In total, more than 1.35 lakh students have registered to take part in GUJCET 2026. Among these candidates, approximately 1.15 lakh are from the Gujarat Board, over 18,500 are from the CBSE Board, while the remaining candidates represent various other educational boards. The OMR-based examination is set to take place from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM across several locations in the state on the designated date.

Examination Format and Subject Distribution

The GUJCET will encompass four subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics. Each subject will consist of 40 OMR-based questions, with each question worth one mark, contributing to a total of 40 marks per subject. Candidates will be allocated 60 minutes to complete each subject paper during the exam.

Timetable for Subject Sessions

The examination will commence with the Physics and Chemistry papers, scheduled to take place during the morning session from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The afternoon session will begin with the Biology examination, followed by the Mathematics test, concluding by 4:00 PM. This structure allows the administration to manage the examination process effectively across various sessions.

Subject Requirements for Different Student Groups

All Class 12 Science students, including those in the A, B, and AB groups, are mandated to take the Physics and Chemistry examinations. Specifically, A group students will focus on Mathematics and are not required to take the Biology test. Conversely, B group students will sit for Biology while opting out of Mathematics. The AB group students will participate in all four subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics.

Language Options for the Examination

The GUJCET 2026 will be offered in three languages: Gujarati, English, and Hindi. This multilingual approach aims to cater to the diverse backgrounds of the students participating in the examination. Following the announcement of GUJCET 2026 results, which will coincide with the Class 12 Science board exam results, a merit list will be compiled to facilitate admissions into engineering and diploma pharmacy colleges throughout Gujarat, based on the combined performance in GUJCET and Class 12 Science examinations.
