The CSR Journal Magazine

A shocking incident came to light from Ghaziabad’s Rajnagar Extension. A man with a criminal background shot his wife dead after an argument over a passport. The murder took place in Ajnara Integrity Society under the Nandgram police station area. The accused, identified as Vikas Ahlawat, is currently absconding. His wife, Ruby, was found dead in the kitchen by the time police arrived.

11-Year-Old Daughter Witnesses Crime

The couple’s 11-year-old daughter witnessed the entire episode unfold, while their other daughter was at school. Vikas reportedly asked Ruby for his passport, which led to a heated argument. In a fit of rage, he pulled out a weapon and shot her. Police believe Ruby died on the spot. By the time she was taken to the hospital, she had succumbed to her injuries.

Both Husband and Wife Had Criminal Pasts

Investigations have revealed that both Vikas and Ruby were registered under the Gangsters Act and had multiple criminal cases against them. Ruby had been declared a gangster in 2020 by the Modinagar police, while Vikas, a native of Meerut, also had several pending cases. Ruby’s brother was reportedly murdered in 2019, further complicating the family’s history with crime.

Frequent Fights and Domestic Tensions

The couple had moved into the high-rise a year ago and were known for their frequent loud arguments, as per neighbors. Police sources revealed that Vikas was unemployed and struggled with alcohol addiction, leading to frequent disputes between the couple. He would often remain away from home for long periods, and tensions between the two were ongoing.

Murder Weapon Yet to Be Found

After shooting Ruby, Vikas fled the scene and has not been located since. Police teams have been formed to track him down, and a full-scale investigation is underway. Ruby’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination. Authorities are also seeking to ensure the safety and well-being of the minor daughter who witnessed the crime.

ACP Upasana Pandey of Nandgram confirmed that the incident appears to be the result of a domestic dispute that escalated fatally. The murder has sent shockwaves across the residential society and raised serious concerns about safety and domestic violence, even among those with criminal backgrounds.
