Delhi Groom’s Hilarious ‘8th Vachan’ Goes Viral: Bride Had No Choice But to Agree!

The CSR Journal Magazine

With the wedding season at its peak across India, a ceremony in Delhi has captured the internet’s attention for its unexpected blend of tradition and humor. Hindu weddings are known for the age-old ritual of saptapadi, where couples take seven vows while circling the sacred fire. These vows symbolize trust, respect, mutual support and lifelong companionship, and are usually performed with deep reverence.

The Groom’s Surprise Announcement

At the wedding of Mayank and Diya, the customary solemnity took a playful turn. While performing the rituals sincerely, Mayank suddenly picked up the microphone and told guests that he wished to add an important “extra” vow. Creating suspense, he jokingly warned that he wanted Diya’s agreement before she could change her mind later.

During the ceremonies, he said on a mic, “Main usse ek vachan bulwane wala hoon, swikaar hai, bulwa lena baad mein mana na kar paaye.” He meant he wanted her to agree to another promise. Moments later, he delivered his comical promise: “Aaj se hamare kamre ka AC temperature main set karunga”, declaring that he would henceforth control the air-conditioner settings in their room.

Guests Burst Into Laughter

The announcement immediately sent the mandap into peals of laughter. Relatives teased the couple, and some reminded them that the entire moment was being recorded. Diya, amused yet shy, responded with a soft “Swikaar hai,” sealing the humorous vow. The interaction highlighted the couple’s easy chemistry and brought a refreshing dose of authenticity to the ceremony.

The Clip Goes Viral on Social Media

The video, posted on Instagram on December 2 with the caption “Mayank dropped a Vachan and Diya had to agree,” quickly gained traction. The on-screen line, “8th Vachan added. The vachan we all were unprepared for,” captured the mood perfectly as the clip crossed 1.2 million views. Thousands of users reacted with jokes about the universal “AC temperature battle” in marriages, while others praised the couple for bringing warmth and humor into a traditional ritual.

Tradition Meets Modern Charm

While the saptapadi remains a sacred highlight of Hindu weddings, symbolizing nourishment, strength, prosperity, happiness, longevity and companionship, this light-hearted addition offered a modern twist. Many online users commented that such spontaneous moments make weddings more memorable and show how love, laughter and shared quirks truly define a partnership.

On December 8, 2025, 24‑carat gold in major Indian cities is priced around ₹13,014 per gram, while 22‑carat gold stands at ₹11,929 per gram. The sharp demand for weddings, with brides and grooms buying jewellery, is partly driving the steady gold prices. The rush for gold and ceremonies shows no sign of slowing down this season.
