Congress Member of Parliament Kodikunnil Suresh has alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent video addressing students regarding paper leak incidents was an attempt to mislead both the student community and the Opposition. Suresh questioned the government’s commitment to addressing ongoing issues in the education sector, particularly the role of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

In his remarks, Suresh claimed that the midnight timing of the Prime Minister’s video indicated that the government was experiencing significant pressure and frustration. He stated, “One thing is clear: the Prime Minister is having sleepless nights because at midnight he released a video for students.” This comment was made to illustrate what he perceives as a state of distress within the government.

Response to Proposed Measures Against Paper Leaks

After the government’s announcement to establish fast-track courts for handling paper leak cases, Suresh expressed scepticism regarding its effectiveness. He remarked that the initiative would not satisfy the expectations of students or those in Opposition, suggesting that they remain unconvinced about the government’s ability to deliver justice swiftly. He claimed, “The video is misleading students and the Opposition,” indicating a lack of trust in the promised actions.

Moreover, Suresh pointed out that the removal of Dharmendra Pradhan from his ministerial position had been a key demand from protesters. He questioned the Prime Minister’s decision to retain Pradhan in his role despite widespread criticism regarding the handling of important examinations, including NEET. According to Suresh, “Pradhan is the most responsible person,” highlighting the minister’s apparent failure in ensuring fair examination procedures.

Suresh’s criticisms extend to the societal impact of the government’s responses, stating that the reactions so far have not been adequate. He alleged that public sentiment is leaning towards disbelief regarding the Prime Minister’s recorded message aimed at instilling confidence among students. Although the Education Secretary has reportedly been changed as part of a broader response to the examination controversies, Suresh raised questions regarding the lack of action against Dharmendra Pradhan.
