Cleanliness Drive and Bike Rally Celebrate PM Modi’s Birthday

The CSR Journal Magazine

A large-scale cleanliness initiative took place at Lata Mangeshkar Chowk in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, on September 17, 2026, to honour Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. Organised by the Ayodhya Municipal Corporation, the drive falls under the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’. The event was an opportunity to not only clean the locality but also to acknowledge the Prime Minister’s 25 years of service to the community, state, and nation.

Roli Singh, the Ayodhya District Panchayat President, stated that the cleanliness drive serves as a tribute on this special occasion. She noted the significance of this day, which commemorates two important aspects: the Prime Minister’s birthday and his quarter-century of contributions. Under the direction of the Mayor, the initiative was deemed a suitable way to show respect and gratitude.

During the event, attendees also offered prayers to Lord Ram, wishing for the Prime Minister’s continued health and longevity, highlighting the community’s regard for his leadership and vision for India to thrive as a ‘Vishwa Guru’.

Bike Rally to Connect Young People

In addition to the cleanliness drive, a bike rally from Varanasi to Vadnagar was arranged to celebrate the Prime Minister’s birthday as part of the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’. The rally aims to engage young individuals in a journey that starts from the Prime Minister’s professional roots in Varanasi and ends at his birthplace in Vadnagar.

The rally’s launch saw participation from prominent political figures, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Minister Chirag Paswan, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. Preparations for the rally began on Thursday, with the event set to mobilise youth and boost involvement in community service initiatives.

Visual displays throughout Varanasi symbolising Modi’s 25 years of service were also erected, enhancing the festive atmosphere surrounding the celebrations. Rajnath Singh arrived in Varanasi on the night prior and is expected to inaugurate the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ after prayers at the Vishwanath Temple on the morning of the event.

Nationwide Initiative Launched by BJP

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is conducting the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ across India from September 17 to October 17. This initiative encompasses a series of service-oriented programmes and public outreach activities aimed at improving community welfare.

As part of the campaign, the ‘Vadnagar to Varanasi’ and ‘Varanasi to Vadnagar’ bike yatras are set to begin simultaneously on September 17 at 9:30 AM. The event from Vadnagar will be flagged off by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, along with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and other senior BJP leaders.

The bike yatra is projected to traverse through 193 districts and approximately 1,159 villages across ten states, covering a total distance of around 40,000 kilometres. An estimated 1,000 young individuals nationwide are anticipated to take part in this yatra, which will conclude on October 7.

Participants in the yatra are also expected to engage in various public service activities focused on issues like cleanliness, addiction recovery, a TB-free India, reducing plastic consumption, and water conservation. As an environmental initiative, participants will pledge to plant 25 trees every day during the journey. The yatra plan includes interactions with beneficiaries of government schemes, as well as discussions with youth and women involved in empowerment efforts, aiming to deepen public understanding and outreach.
