The CSR Journal Magazine

Entry and exit gates at six Delhi Metro stations, including Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat and Patel Chowk, will remain closed from 6am to 4pm on Monday, October 12, amid heightened security arrangements for a Congress-led opposition march towards the Supreme Court.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said interchange facilities would remain operational at all six stations. The restrictions are subject to review by security agencies, with further updates to be issued depending on the situation.

In a post on X on Monday, the DMRC identified the affected stations as Patel Chowk, Janpath, Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, Central Secretariat and Barakhamba Road.

Traffic Diversions Expected Across Central Delhi

The restrictions coincide with a Delhi Traffic Police advisory warning of possible congestion and diversions across New Delhi and Central Delhi. Diversions will be implemented from 6am, depending on the prevailing law and order situation, potentially affecting vehicle movement at major intersections, flyovers and roads.

“In view of the law and order situation, traffic may be impacted on the following stretches in Delhi on 12.10.2026,” the advisory said, urging commuters to anticipate delays and plan their journeys accordingly.

Commuters travelling through central parts of the Capital have been advised to account for possible disruptions while planning their routes.

Opposition March Against SIR, Election Commissioner

Opposition leaders and MPs from several INDIA bloc parties are expected to march towards the Supreme Court on Monday to protest alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and demand the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

The demonstration is part of the opposition’s continuing campaign against the electoral roll revision process. Security agencies are monitoring the situation as authorities prepare for the march and its potential impact on traffic and public transport.

The extent of the restrictions will depend on the security assessment, with the Metro corporation and traffic authorities expected to issue further updates if required.
