Chief Minister Dhami Inaugurates Vishwanath-Shakti Temple Corridor in Uttarkashi

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami commenced his visit to Uttarkashi on October 7, 2026, by offering prayers at the historically significant Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple and Shakti Temple. His prayers were directed towards ensuring prosperity, peace, and the well-being of the state and its residents.

Following the temple visit, Dhami participated in the Seva Jyoti Kalash Yatra and Seva Sankalp Sabha, which were organised at Ramlila Maidan as part of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan. This gathering also marked the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrating 25 years of public service, where Dhami addressed the attendees and acknowledged the importance of public service in Modi’s tenure.

Focus on Development and Governance

In his address, CM Dhami highlighted that the last two-and-a-half decades of Modi’s governance have laid a foundation focused on public welfare, good governance, and upliftment of the impoverished. He noted that the Seva Jyoti Yatra serves as a testament to their commitment to national spirit and public interest.

Dhami elaborated on various governmental initiatives that have benefitted citizens at the grassroots level, including the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission, Ayushman Bharat, and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. He emphasized that these schemes have moved governance from bureaucratic offices to the doorsteps of the populace.

Emphasising the potential of Uttarakhand, Dhami stated that the state is on its way to becoming a notable hub in the third decade of the 21st century. He reported substantial strides in enhancing road, rail, and air connectivity while simultaneously fostering growth in industries, tourism, and self-employment opportunities.

Recent Achievements and Future Plans for Uttarakhand

Discussing economic growth, Dhami presented data indicating that Uttarakhand’s economy has expanded by over one-and-a-half times within the last four years, with per capita income witnessing an increase of more than 41 per cent. Additionally, the establishment of over 20,000 new industries and a notable rise in the number of hotels and homestays were outlined as evidence of the state’s progress.

Dhami highlighted the state’s achievements in the Sustainable Development Goals Index, where Uttarakhand has secured the top position in India and maintained its status as the Most Film Friendly State for four consecutive years. The Chief Minister also noted that the state had achieved a fully literate status.

On the topic of religious tourism, Dhami confirmed that measures to enhance the Char Dham Yatra had proven effective, with over 56 lakh pilgrims participating in this year’s pilgrimage. He also spoke of ongoing development initiatives in Uttarkashi district, with over 50 projects worth more than Rs 200 crore either initiated or nearing completion.

As part of his announcements during the visit, Dhami revealed plans for the Vishwanath-Shakti Temple Corridor, aimed at improving facilities for pilgrims while promoting local employment through religious tourism. Development initiatives at various local sites, including Dodital, Awana Bugyal, and Hari Maharaj Saud Bugyal, were also put forward for further advancement. Furthermore, he stated that a proposal for establishing a Kendriya Vidyalaya in Bhatwari has been submitted for governmental approval.
