Nana Patekar Died Of Heart Attack After Artery Blockage, Autopsy Confirms

Nana Patekar passed away due to a heart attack resulting from a blockage in the left main coronary artery, as revealed by an autopsy report. This information was made public by a senior physician at Goa Medical College and Hospital on Sunday. The esteemed actor, aged 75, was taken from his residence in Dona Paula, near Panaji, to a private medical facility during the early hours of October 8.

Despite 45 minutes of cardiopulmonary resuscitation efforts, medical personnel were unable to revive him. He was ultimately pronounced dead at 5:10 am. Following his death, Patekar’s remains were transported to Goa Medical College for an autopsy before being flown to Pune. Subsequently, his body was taken to his farmhouse in Donje village for cremation with full state honours.

According to the physician involved, Patekar suffered an acute myocardial infarction due to thrombosis in the left main coronary artery, which is responsible for supplying blood to a significant portion of the heart. The post-mortem report classified the cause of death as a result of natural factors linked to atherosclerotic coronary artery disease.

Last Rites Conducted In Pune

Patekar’s son, Malhar, flew to Goa to undertake the responsibility of transporting his father’s body back to Pune. After reaching Pune, the body was moved to the family’s farmhouse located near Khadakwasla, where the final rites were performed the same night, accompanied by state honours. In response to inquiries regarding the timing of the cremation, Malhar explained that the family believed sufficient time had elapsed since the incident occurred earlier that day.

He further expressed intentions to continue his father’s legacy through the Naam Foundation, which is engaged in water conservation, education, and healthcare initiatives. Patekar’s contribution to social causes was well-known, and his family aims to uphold these values in his memory.

Attendance At The Funeral

The funeral service attracted numerous notable figures from various sectors. Among the attendees were Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Union Ministers Ramdas Athawale and Murlidhar Mohol, and Lok Sabha MP Sunil Tatkare. Minister of Higher and Technical Education Chandrakant Patil, former chairperson of the Maharashtra State Women’s Commission Roopali Chakankar, Bhai Jagtap, NAAM Foundation co-founder Makarand Anaspure, FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe, and prominent actors Jackie Shroff and Pravin Tarde were also present.

Additional personalities from Bollywood, politics, and sports paid their respects, showcasing the deep impact Patekar had across various fields. His passing has left a notable void in the entertainment industry and among his admirers.
